Tampa Bay Rays - Houston Astros, Game 7 Result: 4: 2 BOXSCORE - Rays win series 4-3 The Tampa Bay Rays have game 7 of the ALCS to themselves and reached the World Series for the second time in their franchise history since 2008, preventing the Astros from making a successful comeback after being 0-3 behind. Only the Boston Red Sox managed to do that in 2004.The Rays started the game like a raid with their shooting star Randy Arozarena, who hit a 2-run home run to 2-0 lead in the first inning. For the Cuban it was the seventh home run of this postseason, with which he set a new rookie postseason record. Arozarena was subsequently voted MVP of the ALCS. In the second inning, catcher Mike Zunino made it 3-0 with a solo home run. In the sixth inning, Zunino made the fourth Rays run of the game with a sacrifice fly. Starting pitcher Charlie Morton dominated the Rays until the sixth inning, but then got into trouble and was substituted with runners on the corners. Regular closer Nick Anderson (2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB) took over and put an end to the threat, with the Astros having their best chance of getting close again in the eighth inning. They put two men on base against Anderson. With runners on the corners, Rays manager Kevin Cash finally brought Pete Fairbanks, who first handed out a walk to Michael Brantley and loaded the bases. Carlos Correa then hit a 2-run single, but then Fairbanks hit a strikeout against Alex Bregman at the end of the inning, and Fairbanks took over for the rest of the way, ultimately pitching 1 1/3 shutout innings (2 H, BB, 3 SO) for the Save.Morton (5 2/3 IP, 2 H, BB, 6 SO) became the fifth pitcher since 2013, who made five starts in a row with at least 5 innings and one run or less in the postseason has laid down. Only Curt Schilling managed this six times. Morton is also the first pitcher in postseason history to have three wins in Game 7, while his opponent, Lance McCullers Jr., had to go out in the fourth inning (3 2/3 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, BB, 7 SO). With him and Morton as starters, for the first time two pitchers competed against each other in a decider who had previously competed as teammates in a decider. Both pitched successfully for Houston in Game 7 of the ALCS 2017 against the Yankees.National League Championship SeriesAtlanta Braves - Los Angeles Dodgers, Game 6Result: 3: 1 BOXSCORE - Series: 3-3The Dodgers prevailed again against the Braves and won So that their game 7. The fact that both LCS go over seven games in the same year had only happened twice before: 2003 and 2004.The Dodgers sent pitcher Walker Buehler into the race and the right-hander delivered six shutout innings (7 H, 6 SO) It paved the way for Los Angeles, which marked Buehler's third postseason start with at least six innings and no earned run - overtaking teammate Clayton Kershaw for most in Dodgers history. There has been in the past 20 years only three pitchers with more such starts in the postseason: Madison Bumgarner (6), Justin Verlander (4) and John Lackey (3). Their offense got the Dodgers completely in the first inning: Corey Seager and Just in Turner hit back-to-back home runs and then Cody Bellinger increased to 3-0 with an RBI single. The Braves had their only run in the seventh inning: an RBI double from Ronald Acuna Jr., scored by Nick Markakis, while Max Fried showed a good performance for the Braves and pitched into the seventh inning (6 2/3 I, 8 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 5 SO).
