The three-time World Cup winner will spend the day isolated with a few family members outside Sao Paulo, where he is expected to receive a flood of tributes from players, fans, celebrities and politicians.

Ibrahimović returns and scores 2 as Milan beats Inter 2-1

MILAN (AP) — Zlatan Ibrahimović made a winning return after being sidelined with the coronavirus as AC Milan beat Inter Milan 2-1 in an entertaining derby match on Saturday. Ibrahimović only resumed training this week after recovering from the virus but the 39-year-old Swede scored twice early on. Romelu Lukaku netted for Inter in the 29th minute. Since 1992, Pelé has done charity work as a U.N goodwill ambassador. He stopped his career as a businessman in 2004 after failed attempts in the sports marketing field.

The soccer great has had mobility problems since a failed hip replacement surgery in 2012. He has been forced to use walkers and wheelchairs in public. He has also been admitted to hospitals in recent years for kidney and prostate procedures.

The celebrations in Brazil for Pelé began on Feb. 20, but he didn't attend the unveiling of a lifesize statue of him at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro that day.

Considered by many to be the greatest footballer of all time, Pele will celebrate his 80th birthday Friday, confined to his home in Brazil because of Covid-19 but meeting the milestone with his trademark laugh. "The King" has suffered from a series of health problems in recent years, but has not lost his charisma or sense of humor. "I'm fine, it's just I won't be able to play" on his birthday, he joked this week in a video conversation with the head of the Brazilian Football Confederation.
