(Reuters) - Facebook could face antitrust charges in the United States as early as November, the Washington Post reported on Friday, citing four sources familiar with the matter.

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) met Thursday to discuss an investigation into possible threats to competition, the newspaper reported.

The timeline could change further, the Washington Post said, adding that attorneys general are in the process of preparing their complaint.

Facebook, the FTC and the New York attorney general's office were not immediately available for comment.
