Vikings OL Dru Samia tests positive for COVID-19

Vikings OL Dru Samia tests positive for COVID-19 Vikings offensive lineman Dru Samia has tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing is being performed, and Samia and anyone deemed a high-risk contact will not be permitted to travel with the team for tomorrow night’s game against the Bears. © Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports Samia, a 2019 fourth-rounder, started four games for Minnesota earlier this year before returning to a reserve role. But the Vikings just released Pat Elflein and now find themselves without their top backup at guard. Plus, there is a good chance that there will indeed be high-risk contacts given the nature of O-line/D-line play.

One option for the forthcoming NBA G League season that has gained some traction, sources say, is a bubble concept in the Atlanta area that G - League teams originally were hoping to play games in their arenas and generate some revenue from ticket sales, but that seems unlikely this coming season .

And the league seems intent on having fans at games, as regular- season tickets are available to purchase. The NFL Players Association told players this week that they could be tested every three days and if they test positive for COVID-19, they could be isolated.

The NBA will tip-off the 2020-21 season on Dec. 22, a compressed schedule of 72 games with teams flying to visiting markets to play in arenas with limited or no fans. Why? Money. The NBA television contracts generate a lot of money and the league wants to honor them with something resembling a traditional season.

What about the G-League season? Negotiations on its season are ongoing, but the NBA’s developmental program does not come close to generating the kind of money that would have teams going out of their way to make sure it happens. Still, there needs to be a G-League season, which has the NBA thinking bubble again, reports Marc Stein of the New York Times.

Broncos DC Ed Donatell back home recovering after COVID-related hospitalization

Broncos DC Ed Donatell back home recovering after COVID-related hospitalization Broncos defensive coordinator Ed Donatell required hospitalization after contracting the coronavirus, according to the team. The second-year Denver DC was hospitalized last week but discharged Sunday. Donatell, 63, has been battling COVID-19 symptoms since Oct. 31 and has missed the past three games. Donatell, who is in his third stint with the franchise, is one of a few Broncos staffers to have contracted the virus. Running backs coach Curtis Modkins did so in October, and offensive line coach Mike Munchak was in the team’s COVID protocol.

Alternate bubble format ? It has been reported the bubbles could cost between million and million Teams could play a number of games then the players would be allowed to return home. Canada's three Major League Soccer teams were also forced to relocate in U.S. cities to play games.

The 2019–20 NBA G League season was the 19th season of the NBA G League , the official minor league basketball organization owned by the National Basketball Association (NBA). The season was suspended indefinitely on March 12, 2020

G-League teams originally were hoping to play games in their arenas and generate some revenue from ticket sales, but that seems unlikely this coming season.

NFL expecting huge COVID-19 spike after Thanksgiving?

NFL expecting huge COVID-19 spike after Thanksgiving? The NFL is bracing for a significant post-Thanksgiving spike in COVID-19 cases across the league. There is a fear that with the surge in the virus, it will have an impact on the remaining regular-season games. The NFL has every reason to be concerned. Cases of COVID-19 are spiking across the United States, with the country exceeding 100,000-plus new positive tests every day since November began. It’s also a trend that reflects in the NFL’s testing of players and personnel, with 47 percent of cases in the regular season coming in November.Oct. 4-10: Eight new cases among players, seven confirmed positives among personnelOct.

The NBA had teams in the bubble for three months, with the Los Angeles Lakers winning that title. The NHL playoff bubble lasted 65 days, from the time Border and travel restrictions affect the NHL more than any other pro league because seven of 31 teams are based in Canada, which could require

The league championship series and World Series could be held at one or two stadiums. Remaining in one metropolitan area would allow teams to avoid A bubble with stricter protocols ostensibly would protect the league from such concerns during the postseason. With more than billion in television

A bubble scenario makes sense in terms of broadcasts and scouting (every team is in one place, not unlike the G-League Showcase event annually in Las Vegas). However, as noted in the report, rosters will be a challenge, especially with teams’ two-way players — usually their best players — spending more time in the NBA because of the condensed schedule (the NBA is allowing players 50 games with the big club).

Bubble or no bubble, the 2020-21 NBA season is going to be unusual.

What the Boston Bruins are thankful for .
The Bruins are thankful for their veteran core, but they might be more thankful for a top-four left-shot defenseman. Between the departures of Torey Krug (St. Louis) and Zdeno Chara (unsigned free agent), the Bruins have lost over 41 minutes per game from the left side of their back end and a lot of offense.  Management showed it believes that Matt Grzelcyk is ready for a larger role when it handed him a four-year, $14.75M deal last month.  But he hasn’t played in that role before, and neither has anyone else in the organization.
