But the headlines belonged to Harden, who not only contributed 30 points, but also 14 assists (franchise record on debut) and twelve rebounds, making him the first NBA professional ever to have a triple-double for a new team at his premiere at least 30 points. To top it off, the Nets won with 122: 115. Brooklyn, Harden said after the game, was his preferred trade target all along. "I hope you can see it in my smile and my game. I'm just looking forward to this chance. This is an amazing franchise, I just have to be the best James Harden I can be and good things will happen."
