Friday 5: Studious Kyle Larson looks to ‘finally close one out’ at Miami

Friday 5: Studious Kyle Larson looks to ‘finally close one out’ at Miami Kyle Larson will be among the ones to watch in Sunday's Cup race for how he runs so close to the wall at Miami. He just wants to be back in the car.

Michael McDowell is an extremely patient driver, a trait that finally paid off. The 36-year-old was winless in 357 starts over his first 13 years on the circuit, but finally broke through last week, as he opened the 2021 NASCAR schedule with a victory in the Daytona 500. McDowell will hope to begin a new streak when he gets behind the wheel for the 2021 O'Reilly Auto Parts 253 on Sunday. A native of Arizona, McDowell finished in the top five a total of three times before his surprising victory ended the second-longest drought to begin a career in Cup Series history.

McDowell is listed at 60-1, while Chase Elliott, who will start from the pole position, is the 9-5 favorite in the latest 2021 O'Reilly Auto Parts 253 odds from William Hill Sportsbook. The race at Daytona Road Course is set to begin at 3 p.m. ET. You'll want to check out the NASCAR at Daytona Road Course predictions from Micah Roberts, the legendary Vegas bookmaker who pioneered wagering on racing, before locking in any 2021 O'Reilly Auto Parts 253 picks.

Daytona 500 Vegas picks, top predictions, lineup 2021: Legendary expert fading Brad Keselowski

Daytona 500 Vegas picks, top predictions, lineup 2021: Legendary expert fading Brad Keselowski Micah Roberts pioneered wagering on NASCAR and just locked in his 2021 Daytona 500 expert picksJimmie Johnson crossed the overtime line just before the final caution came out.

Roberts is arguably the nation's premier NASCAR betting expert, and his top pick won the first two races of the 2020 season. In the season-opening Daytona 500, he nailed Hamlin's win at 10-1 odds, and he hit eventual winner Joey Logano at 13-2 odds in the Pennzoil 400 a week later. He also nailed the victory by Hamlin, who wasn't one of the top three favorites, in the Toyota 500 last May.

Roberts also crushed the 2019 NASCAR season. Those who wagered $100 on his predicted winner in each of the 40 NASCAR races (an investment of $4,000) finished with a strong profit of $2,100. In addition, those who put down $50 on each of Roberts' top four choices in each of those races (an investment of $8,000) were up a head-turning $3,400. Anyone who has followed his picks is up huge year after year.

Dixie Vodka 400 Vegas picks, predictions, lineup 2021: Legendary expert avoiding Martin Treux Jr. at Miami

Dixie Vodka 400 Vegas picks, predictions, lineup 2021: Legendary expert avoiding Martin Treux Jr. at Miami Micah Roberts pioneered wagering on NASCAR and just locked in his 2021 Dixie Vodka 400 expert picks One shocker: Roberts is low on Truex, even though he's one of the top 2021 Dixie Vodka 400 contenders at 7-1. In fact, Roberts says Truex, who won this race in 2017, barely cracks the top 10."He's had seven top-five finishes using the 550-horsepower package but no victories," Roberts told SportsLine. "He's off to a slow start this season [and] has a 10.3 average finish in 16 Homestead starts.

Now, Roberts has analyzed the field and odds for Sunday's NASCAR at Daytona Road Course 2021 race. He's only sharing his winner and leaderboard here.

2021 O'Reilly Auto Parts 253 expert picks

One shocker: Roberts is low on Larson, even though he's one of the top 2021 O'Reilly Auto Parts 253 favorites at 14-1. In fact, Roberts says Larson, who finished 10th in the season-opening Daytona 500, barely cracks the top 15.

"This will be his first run on the Daytona Road Course after missing most of last season," Roberts told SportsLine. "His only top-five finish on a road course came at Watkins Glen during his rookie year in 2014."

Another curveball: Roberts is high on William Byron, even though he's a 20-1 long shot in the latest NASCAR at Daytona odds 2021. He's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. The 23-year-old from North Carolina, whose lone Cup Series victory came on the main track at Daytona International Speedway, finished eighth in this race last year. It was one of four top-10s Byron has recorded in eight career starts on road courses.

"I think Byron will be the next driver with no road-course wins to grab one," Roberts told SportsLine. "He's led 21 or more laps in three of his last six road starts."

How to make 2021 O'Reilly Auto Parts 253 predictions

Roberts also is high on an epic long shot whose performance on this track less than two weeks ago was "an eye-opener." This driver is being underestimated by oddsmakers, and anyone who backs him could hit it big. You can only see who it is here.
