Aaron Boone (47), manager of the New York Yankees from Major League Baseball (MLB), has to undergo a heart operation and is given a pacemaker. The record champions announced this on Wednesday. Boone had an open heart surgery in 2009.

"For the past six to eight weeks, I've had mild symptoms of lightheadedness, low energy, and shortness of breath," Boone said in a statement. According to research, there were "indications of a low heart rate", "which after further consultations with doctors in Tampa makes a pacemaker necessary".

The procedure is due to be performed on Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Boone has been the coach of the Yankees since December 2017, who are currently preparing for the new season with spring training.
