“If (Joel) Embiid is healthy and (Ben) Simmons is healthy, I think they’re definitely gonna make the playoffs,” he said, via Matt Haughton of CSN Philly. “Obviously the injury thing has really hurt them the last couple years. But if those two guys are healthy, I think both of them are terrific players. Now you’ve got (Markelle) Fultz, you’ve got JJ (Redick). They’ve done some good things with the guys coming off the bench. (Dario) Saric was fantastic last year. If they don’t make the playoffs, I’d be totally shocked.”

76ers are starting to move beyond 'The Process'

76ers are starting to move beyond 'The Process' The thing with building through the draft is it’s hard to win that way unless one of those draft picks turns out to be a franchise-changing superstar like Kevin Durant. What made the Oklahoma City model so effective, and appealing, is the Thunder also hit on Russell Westbrook and James Harden in successive drafts with Serge Ibaka thrown on the top. That kind of draft success is easier said than done. Ask the 76ers, who have spent the last four years loaded with lottery picks and winning just 75 games combined during that span. The Sixers are an extreme case and so are their picks.

This young team absolutely is stacked with talent. Nobody can deny that. Of course, that’s what tanking for years will get you.

After drafting Fultz and signing free agent sharpshooter J.J. Redick, they really do have the pieces to make significant improvements this year, and in the years to come. Ben Simmons is a star in the making if he can stay healthy, and Dario Saric is one of the most skilled young forwards in the NBA.

Of course, possessing talent and making it work for you are two separate things. Not to mention this team seems cursed when it comes in injuries to its promising stars, and this includes the new kid on the block. Even though he’s clearly fine, his ankle injury scared the crap out of loyal Philly fans.

It’s going to be fun watching this team grow in the coming years. The playoffs absolutely are attainable in the relatively weak Eastern Conference. Will the Sixers claim a spot this year? We can’t wait to find out.

Now, No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz has those same qualities. To a degree, he's an even better scorer and shooter than Ball, and he's probably a more skilled pick-and-roll ball-handler.The difference between the two top picks comes on the defensive end of the floor. Both have the physical tools to become phenomenal defenders at the point guard position. They're tall, long, and move exceptionally well from side-to-side.One player is actually engaged on defense, however, while the other looks completely disinterested. Can you guess which is which? Here's a hint — the lackadaisical defender's team went 9-22 during the 2016-17 college basketball season and spent the NCAA Tournament watching the games from the couch.Fultz showed up when Washington played UCLA, outperforming Ball in that one game. But one game doesn't make an NBA career, and the fact that Fultz only wanted to get up for the biggest competition is a glaring mark against the first pick.
