Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell had to be helped off the court on Friday afternoon after suffering an ankle injury in their matchup with the Indiana Pacers.

Mitchell, early in the third quarter at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake city, jumped up to try and block a pass thrown by Edmond Sumner near midcourt. As he came down, Mitchell’s right ankle rolled hard, sending him to the ground reaching for his ankle in pain.

Mitchell stood up on his own but fell into his teammates and coaches on the sideline almost instantly. They then helped him off the court slowly as he limped back to the locker room.

The team initially said that Mitchell suffered a right ankle sprain, and that X-rays came back negative. He is set to undergo an MRI on Friday night, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Mitchell finished the night with 22 points.

Mitchell has averaged a career-high 26.5 points and 5.3 assists so far this season, his fourth with the Jazz. The 24-year-old was averaging 36.8 points over his last five games. He is in the final year of his initial four-year, $14.5 million deal.
