Q&A With Victor Hedman: On Peaking in his 30s, Chasing a Stanley Cup Repeat and More
The Hockey News recently caught up with the Tampa Bay Lightning's all-world defenseman to discuss a variety of topics, including why a 2021 Stanley Cup win might feel very different from last year's.Victor Hedman and the Tampa Bay Lightning achieved greatness last year, but it didn't satiate them. Not when they hoisted the 2020 Stanley Cup amid global circumstances so strange that the championship felt surreal in some ways. Hazing gets a bad rap because a lot of organizations just go overboard. We’ve all heard nightmare stories about fraternities and sororities doing dangerous, even deadly things, and some high school football hazing, even cheerleading hazing, is just wrong.

The NBA has hazed rookies for decades. You might be told to carry bags or bring drinks or whatever the veterans ask, and if you don’t do it, you’ll get very very unpopular very quickly.
Former Blue Devil Cassius Stanley clearly feels some of the things he’s asked to do are stupid, plus, as a Pacer teammate here points out, he hasn’t been coming in to do extra work.
So his teammates did what NBA guys do with young bucks: they reminded himand expectations, and that he needs to remember it.
All fair, but it may be a while before he eats popcorn again.
