  Avalanche-Blues stream: Saturday’s NHL on NBC matchup Coverage begins at 3 p.m. ET on NBC and the NBC Sports app.On Thursday, the Avalanche joined the Golden Knights as the only NHL clubs to have secured a spot in the upcoming Stanley Cup Playoffs. This marks the fourth consecutive season that Colorado will be making a playoff appearance, the longest streak for the franchise since making 11 straight trips from 1995 to 2006, a run that included a pair of Stanley Cup titles (1996, 2001). The only other time the club reached the playoffs in four or more consecutive years was a seven-season run from 1981 to 1987 as the Quebec Nordiques.

Each day, the NHL will publicly release the list of players that are unavailable to their respective teams due to being in COVID-19 Protocol. Here is today’s list so far:

As a reminder, inclusion on this list does not mean that a player has tested positive for Coronavirus or even that they have been confirmed as a close contact to another positive person. Included in the NHL’s list of possible reasons for someone being on the list is are the following:

On Friday, the Bruins had their six-game win streak snapped in a 6-4 loss at Buffalo. Boston has also put some distance between itself and the Rangers in the race for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East, leading by six points. The Bruins also have two games in hand over the Rangers.

"(1) an initial positive test which remains unconfirmed until confirmatory testing is completed pursuant to the Positive Test Protocol; (2) mandated isolation for symptomatic individuals pursuant to the Positive Test Protocol; (3) required quarantine as a high-risk close contact in accordance with the Positive Test Protocol; (4) isolation based on a confirmed positive test result and/or; (5) quarantine for travel or other reasons as outlined in the COVID-19 Protocol."

Players removed today: Josh Leivo, Calgary Flames

No new names today, but it was confirmed that Ilya Samsonov is also in the COVID protocol with Kuznetsov. The Capitals goaltender is technically on the taxi squad, so doesn’t need to be listed here. Leivo finally gets cleared and can rejoin the Flames for the last few games of the season, after spending nearly two weeks in the protocol.
