Tuchel makes Chelsea history in away win at West Ham as unbeaten run continues

Tuchel makes Chelsea history in away win at West Ham as unbeaten run continues The German tactician is yet to taste defeat on the road as Blues boss, with none of his predecessors able to match an impressive recordThe Blues made a change in the dugout back in January, with club legend Frank Lampard ushered through the exits as a former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain boss was appointed in his place.

Christensen got injured after Sterling’s goal as he seemed to pull his hamstring before the goal. Tuchel says it’ll be ‘bittersweet’ if this proves to be a long-term injury . When asked about any updates on Andreas Christensen – who got injured against Man City – Thomas Tuchel said: “I hope , I hope , I hope that it's not too bad and that he can recover for the next days, but I'm not sure. “It will absolutely be bittersweet if it's a longer injury .”. Christensen had a shaky game and made a mistake before Raheem Sterling’s goal, also getting injured in the process by seemingly pulling his hamstring .

Tuchel arrived at Chelsea with a reputation for being some kind of tactical contortionist. His Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain teams seemed to have a different set-up in every match. Players were expected to not only adapt between games but during games. We wondered if Tuchel favoured the central midfield combination of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho, believing the defence to be rigid enough to not need Kante's shielding and screening. But, sensibly, in the biggest games, Kante has been there and delivered. Surely he will be the first name on the teamsheet for the final?

Andreas Christensen has been nigh on impeccable under Thomas Tuchel, stepping in when Thiago Silva went down injured and doing so well that he made himself undroppable even after Silva returned — instead, it was César Azpilicueta who got shifted from the right-center back position to make room for Christensen in the first-choice setup.

Unfortunately, yesterday’s momentous win over Manchester City did come at a price, namely Christensen’s hamstring, which he himself managed to tweak while making a rare miscue that led directly to City’s only goal of the game.

Nagelsmann completes meteoric rise with return to Munich

Nagelsmann completes meteoric rise with return to Munich At 33, Julian Nagelsmann, is returning to Munich, the city where his football career made a humble and painful start, to take over the club at the apex of European football. In 2019, he moved to RB Leipzig and guided the Red Bull-backed club to third in the Bundesliga as well as the semi-finals of the Champions League, still aged just 33. Video: Coach Nagelsmann takes over Bayern Munich from next season - club (Reuters) Your browser does not support this video This season they are on course for second, which would equal their best ever finish, and they also made the knockout stages of the Champions League again. That success has made him a hot property.

Severe hamstring tears (grade 3) will usually be very painful, tender, swollen and bruised. There may have been a "popping" sensation at the time of the injury and you'll be unable to use the affected leg. When to see your GP. Most hamstring injuries can be cared for at home using the techniques outlined below. Returning to strenuous exercise too quickly could make your injury worse, but avoiding exercise for too long can cause your hamstring muscles to shrink and scar tissue to form around the tear.

Andreas Christensen is continuing to show his value after starting his fourth game in a row under Thomas Tuchel , with a third clean sheet during that run capping another good performance against Newcastle. Starts against Sheffield United and Barnsley followed and, although he did withdraw early at Oakwell in midweek, he was back in the middle of a back three as the Blues defence stood firm at Stamford Bridge on Monday night to make it just one goal conceded in six games under Tuchel .

Christensen was able to carefully walk off under his own power, and Tuchel’s hoping that means that the 25-year-old will only miss days rather than weeks, especially as we had taken a risk in picking him to start for the sixth match running (the longest active streak on the team).

“I hope it’s not too bad. It’s more or less the same [injury] that he suffered some weeks ago around Porto games, I think, where we had to replace him.

“It was a fifty-fifty decision today whether we wanted to put him on the pitch or not. I hope we did not make a mistake. Because he’s so crucial for us in the last weeks — so, so strong.

“I hope we can escape with some days [of absence] and not weeks. But I’m not sure yet, I have no confirmation yet.”

Most hamstring injuries respond well to simple, nonsurgical treatments. Hamstring muscle injuries happen when the muscle is put under too much stress, typically when it is stretched under pressure. There is some evidence that regular static stretching outside periods of exercise may increase power and speed, and reduce injury . The best time to stretch is when the muscles are warm and pliable. This could be during a yoga or pilates class, or just after exercising. However, there is very limited evidence about specifically stretching after exercise.

Severe hamstring injuries where the tendon tears away from a fragment of bone are called avulsion injuries . Avulsion injuries are not common and typically occur in patients who are young, skeletally immature athletes. Patient will complain of sharp pain in the back of the thigh with popping or tearing of the muscle. Make the incision, find the retracted muscle and protect the nerve. Use anchors in the ischium to repair the tendon to the tuberosity. In case of bony avulsion, screw may be used in severe cases.

With only three weeks left, Christensen will be indeed very lucky to play again this season. There’s no such thing as a small hamstring injury, and even the less severe cases tend to keep players out for weeks (see Mateo Kovačić for a recent example). And Christensen already missed three games with this same injury last month.

Tuchel has been very good and quite careful about load and injury-risk management, but in this case, the odds were not in our favor. Hopefully we can all cross our fingers and get Christensen back soon.

Down syndrome abortion bans gain traction after court ruling .
It’s a ban that even supporters acknowledge will be hard to enforce. Yet 2021 has been a breakthrough year for legislation in several states seeking to prohibit abortions based solely on a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome. Governors in Arizona and South Dakota recently signed such bills into law, and similar measures are pending in North Carolina and Texas. Most significantly, a federal appellate court said Ohio could begin to implement a 2017 law that has been on hold. Although that ruling by the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals conflicted with other federal court decisions, anti-abortion activists say it increases the chances that the U.S.
