“You saw how much power you have as a fan. That is a glimmer of hope. Especially in Germany you can be proud of the clubs that have made a conscious decision against it,” Goretzka said (as captured by Tz journalist Jonas Austermann).

While Goretzka appreciated the boisterous opposition that fans showed throughout Europe, he was also proud of the way Germany’s clubs held firm even though a huge financial carrot was bring dangled in front of them.

“I don’t just limit myself to just FC Bayern, but also when it comes to Dortmund,” Goretzka said. “I was pleased that they decided to take the other path. That can be an initial spark to march back in the right direction.”
