Sport Marcus Carr officially enters NBA Draft; Sahvir Wheeler a realistic option for UK?
Steve Kerr comments on viral video of Klay Thompson
Combining the injuries with the difficulties of the pandemic, and the return of the fans, was probably enough to put Thompson in a tough spot emotionally. Even though he hasn’t been playing, he has still been very involved with the Warriors.Subscribe to Yardbarker's Morning Bark, the most comprehensive newsletter in sports. For the Golden Gophers last season, Carr put up 19.4 points, 4.9 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game.
Carr’s name does still not appear in a lot of big boards currently, but he has made it known that he will pursue all options when it comes to playing professionally. He will have until July 7th to pull his name out of the draft.
NBA Power Rankings: Nets jump up to top as numerous top teams stumble
Brooklyn got Kevin Durant back, won a couple of big games, and that moves them into the top slot. 1. Nets (42-20, Last Week No. 7). Steve Nash has a legitimate Coach of the Year case: His team is 42-20 and in first place in the East, with a +4.5 net rating and the best offense in the NBA. All that despite injuries forcing constant lineup adjustments and Nash having to reach deep into his bench (Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving have played just seven games together). Nash’s calm and cool style is exactly what the Nets needed in a coach’s demeanor.
For now, this post doesn’t put an end to the Carr-to-Kentucky saga. Even though he is officially declaring for the draft, Carr has not signed with an agent unapproved by the NCAA, which allows him to keep his eligibility for another season of college basketball. It appears this move is very similar to Davion Mintz several weeks back, and a long expected move just becomes official.
Analysts have stated in the last several weeks that if Carr does decide to return to college, that Kentucky would be seen as one of the favorites to land his commitment. Currently the Cats are in great shape to land TyTy Washington, for Carr it still seems like a long-shot. Until he signs an agent though, there is still hope to see one of college basketball’s best transfers put on a show in Lexington next season.

Things might be taking a turn in the recruitment of another point guard target though, as it appears things may be heating up between Kentucky and Sahvir Wheeler.
Someone over the weekend told me to pay close attention to Kentucky and Georgia transfer guard Sahvir Wheeler.
Watching film tonight and I like what he’d bring to UK if he ends up there. I wasn’t a fan at first but changing my mind because of how he gets others involved.— Shawn Smith (@gbbcountry)
Wheeler recently cut his list to four, and it features Kentucky, Kansas,, and . He is one of the best facilitators in the nation.
For Georgia last season Wheeler averaged 14 points, 7.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds.
Sahvir Wheeler announcing decision Monday
Four schools remain in the hunt. The former Georgia Bulldogs star and Second Team All-SEC guard has been trending heavily toward Kentucky in recent weeks. Now, he’ll make his decision on Monday at 3 pm ET, according to Stadium reporter Jeff Goodman.
It’s obvious as to why John Calipari is showing strong interest in Wheeler. He is a player that gets consistent paint touches, and obviously is very good at finding the open man once he breaks down the defense.
The shooting and turnover numbers will scare a lot of fans away, but the fit with Kentucky is one that keeps getting stronger by the day. If you add him in a back court that features Kellan Grady, CJ Fredrick, and potentially TyTy Washington, not only does that surround him with shooters but also will allow him to share some on-ball duties so he can create in different ways.
Seems like this recruitment could start wrapping up in the coming weeks. We will have updates as news continues to come in!

Despite Warriors' loss, Steve Kerr wants NBA to keep play-in tournament .
The Warriors lost to the Lakers in their first play-in game and got eliminated with a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies in their second one. Still, the play-in tournament was a major hit in the ratings department. It was so much so that the league is now even considering adding more such tournaments to the season. Thus, Kerr can see the bigger picture here.Subscribe to Yardbarker's Morning Bark, the most comprehensive newsletter in sports.
