Sport Tuesday Headlines: NBA Cats Being Recognized Edition
NHL's COVID protocol-related absences for May 7, 2021
Players in the COVID protocol are: Colorado's Devan Dubnyk and Washington's Evgeny Kuznetsov.Anaheim – TBA
A few former Wildcats drew some recognition from ESPN, being named to the Worldwide Leader’s NBA Regular Season awards list.
First up was Immanuel Quickley, being named to the All-Rookie team. Quickley proved a lot of the draft night projections wrong, asserting himself as a key member of therotation and often finding himself in the lineup at end of games.
This rookie season should be a good launching pad for Quickley’s career as he looks to earn a more prominent role in the New York rotation.
Next up, Bam Adebayo named Second-Team All-Defense. The numbers speak for themselves. Adebayo is one of the most versatile defenders in the league, and is arguably deserving of being first-team and a contender for DPOY.
'Wow, I'm here': Rookie Kysre Gondrezick ready to burn bright with WNBA's Indiana Fever
In a surprise, Kysre Gondrezick was selected by Indiana with the No. 4 overall pick in the WNBA draft, but the rookie guard is confident she belongs.Gondrezick, a WBCA honorable mention All-American, averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds for the Mountaineers in the 2020-21 season. She transferred to West Virginia after her freshman year from Michigan, where she was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and the All-Big Ten Second Team. She ended her senior campaign with the Mountaineers earning a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 First Team, becoming the rare player to earn all-league accolades with two different conferences.
And finally, Julius Randle recognized as All NBA Third-Team.
Randle is the league’s most improved player, no question. He’s the catalyst behind New York’s turnaround this season, and arguably deserves MVP votes.

Adam Silver: NBA has ‘zero tolerance’ for incidents of fan misconduct .
The Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks and Utah Jazz swiftly reacted to the unacceptable fan behavior by indefinitely banning the perpetrators from their arenas. In an interview with Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington published Friday, Silver strongly condemned the kind of fan impropriety seen this week and pledged the league’s full commitment to maintaining player safety.“Zero tolerance,” Silver said. “No one is going to get away with an act like that. You’re going to be caught. You’re going to be banned from an arena.
