Motive unclear as firefighter kills colleague at station SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) — A firefighter killed a co-worker and wounded another at their small fire station before setting his own home ablaze and apparently killing himself in California's second deadly workplace shooting in days. The gunman, a firefighter specialist and engineer, was off-duty when he apparently drove the 10 miles (16 kilometers) from his home in Acton, north of Los Angeles, and opened fire Tuesday morning at Los Angeles County Fire Station 81, authorities said.

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Karl- Anthony Towns on multiple occasions this season directly stated that teammate Anthony Edwards should be named the 2020-21 NBA Rookie of the Year . Unfortunately, the proclamation by Towns did not come to fruition. Edwards may have ultimately lost out on winning the award, but he turned in an incredible stretch to close out the season. In the process of that run, he earned the respect of his teammates and coaches and that should only help him flourish on the court. As Edwards hinted on social media, the snub will likely only fuel him to work harder

The future is looking bright for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Their No. 1 overall pick, Anthony Edwards, put together an impressive rookie season, showcasing his supreme athleticism and downright disgusting dunks throughout. He was neck-and-neck with Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball for the NBA Rookie of the Year Award for the majority of the year.

However, the voters decided to give Ball the award. He put up great numbers, averaging 15.7 points, 6.9 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game for his inaugural season. He led his Hornets team to the play-in game, where they eventually lost. His playmaking abilities were sensational, from his passes to his ability to hit the floater from the top of the key.

Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards lost the NBA Rookie of the Year Award to Lamelo While the snub might hurt a player’s pride, those two players might feel it even more in their wallets. There have been moments in each of the last two seasons when it looked like the Raiders were on The Warriors desperately need to add shooters in order to space the floor for Steph Curry.

18. So this year 's pro prospects are waiting five months longer than usual to find out where they'll be living, working and playing basketball for the foreseeable future. That's not ideal. And the predraft process is obviously unusual because of the COVID-19 pandemic that's disrupted our country since March. But Hampton spent time in recent months with former NBA Rookie of the Year Mike Miller and reportedly reworked his approach. So that's an encouraging development and among the reasons Portland could use the 16th pick to add some backcourt depth that might help decrease the workload

But comparing Ball's stats to Edwards, there could be some grounds for debate.

Edwards averaged 19.3 points, 4.7 boards and 2.7 assists per game this year. He also played in every game, compared to Ball, who played in just 51 because of a wrist injury. However, the Timberwolves won only won 23 games this year and ranked 13th in the Western Conference.

After being what some would call "being snubbed" for Rookie of the Year, the 19-year-old guard seems to be using it as motivation for next season.

Anthony Edwards' tweet after Rookie of the Year snub might be a warning to the NBA.

Losing out on any award is tough, especially if you felt like you deserved it. It seems like Edwards is using the experience of losing Rookie of the Year as fuel to take the NBA by storm next year.

1. Charlotte Hornets: Anthony Edwards , SG, Georgia - Freshman. There is no consensus No. 1 prospect in this draft class, but it's not a reach to suggest Edwards will emerge as the group's crown jewel over the course of the 2019-20 campaign. He is a physical freak, with a beautifully well-rounded game to Toppin only started 15 games for Dayton last season but was a force all year long. He finished his freshman campaign averaging 14.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists, while shooting a conference-leading 66.6% from the floor. Now Artem Dzyuba gets the ball out of his feet on the edge of the box, before stabbing a shot that bounces back off the foot of the post. The offside flag was a safety net for Finland but the locals will be pleased with what they are seeing now. Finland's forward Teemu Pukki (left) and Russia's defender Georgiy Dzhikiya vie for the ball. It looked like being the striker's second goal of the tournament but a VAR check rules out the strike for offside. Correctly I might add .

His longtime trainer, Justin Holland, posted a tweet reacting to Edwards not winning the award. Part of it says, "You should never poke the bear," insinuating that his client is ready to turn some heads next season.

Edwards quoted the tweet with two "100" emojis, essentially agreeing with his trainer's sentiments. It looks like he has no intentions of going through a sophomore slump based on his tweet, which should be scary for the rest of the NBA.

We all saw the monstrous dunk he threw down against the Toronto Raptors. With the fuel of being snubbed added to his fire, the rest of the association should worry about what Edwards brings to the table for the 2021-22 season.

Yahoo Sports exclusive: Dossier reveals extent of NCAA allegations against Arizona State football .
The dossier of documents sent to the Arizona State compliance department and the NCAA enforcement department on May 31 begins with a blunt message about allegations of NCAA improprieties in the ASU football program. From there, the letter provides, sometimes in meticulous detail, allegations of a series of potential NCAA violations. It specifically names 10 Arizona State “individual staff members to investigate” and lists 13 “illegal recruiting prospects” who visited campus during the COVID-19 dead period. Overall, there are more than a dozen allegations in the dossier, which was viewed by Yahoo Sports this week.
