Top 25 Reset: How Transfers, Draft Decisions Changed Our Men’s 2021–22 Outlook
As the dust settles on rosters around the country, some team’s title hopes have risen since spring, while others’ have faded. The midpoint in the college basketball offseason is almost here, and rosters across the country are nearly finalized for the upcoming season. This makes projecting what the season might look like far easier than Sports Illustrated’s first 2021–22 men’s top 25 back in April.A couple of needle-movers remain in the transfer portal, and there’s the possibility of a few high-profile 2022 recruits reclassifying and joining college programs in 2021, but for the most part, things are set in stone.
announced that Gianluca Busio has been transferred to Venezia FC in Serie A. The move is pending a physical and personal terms. The movie is a club record transfer for Sporting KC.
It has been expected the 19-year-old Busio would leave at some point and it was only a matter of time. After being linked to a number of big clubs, the deal was made with recently promoted Venezia where it is likely he will be given every opportunity to play and prove himself in Italy’s top division.
“Gianluca has embodied all of the core values we look for in a player,” Sporting Kansas City Manager and Sporting Director Peter Vermes said via press release. “He has consistently put the team first while demonstrating tremendous professionalism and an unwavering commitment to improving his game and helping the club win. Gianluca is a special talent with outstanding character, and we wish him nothing but the best at Venezia.”
Divine transformation: Ex-Alaska strip club becomes church
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A popular strip club that once beckoned customers off a busy highway leading into Anchorage is now a church offering salvation — instead of temptation — thanks to a daughter of a former exotic dancer. Linda Dunegan believes divine intervention played a hand in transforming the building that housed Fantasies on 5th into the start-up Open Door Baptist Church, turning the show floor into a sanctuary and trading the dancer’s pole with a pulpit. "This church came about because I prayed for five years,” said Dunegan, who tried to buy the building before but walked away — for good, she thought — when she and the owner couldn’t come to terms.
“This is a very proud moment for me and my family,” Busio said. “I’d like to thank everyone who has made it possible, especially all the people at Sporting KC who have helped me become the player and person I am today. Sporting will always have a special place in my heart and I’m grateful to have started my career at such an amazing club. The people, the fans, the city — everything about Kansas City was perfect and it will always feel like home. This is the next step in my career and I’m really excited to join Venezia.”

USMNT deserving Gold Cup semifinalists after Jamaica win: Player ratings & takeaways
The USMNT continues to get key performances from unlikely players at the 2021 Gold Cup. Now it finds itself in the semifinals after a 1-0 win over Jamaica on a late Matthew Hoppe goal. Qatar is up next. With the game looking destined for extra time, Jamaica goalkeeper Andre Blake whiffed on a cross in the box and the ball met the head of Matthew Hoppe for the 83rd-minute game-winner. In addition to the error, Jamaica's struggles to finish continued against the USA: They created two clear-cut scoring chances that they should have done better to convert and thus let the USA off easy.
It sounds like Sporting KC will also retain a 20 percent sell-on, and other incentives could drive the fee even higher, according to Paul Tenorio.
