Sport College Football Team’s New Helmet Decal Is Going Viral
Nevada football practicing at Stanford because of wildfires
Unlike many programs, Nevada does not have its own indoor practice facility or access to any similar local venue. The team plans to hold walk-throughs, meetings and weight training at an off-campus hotel or other location and won't be using Stanford's locker room or shower facilities and, thus, won't be subject to Stanford's COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Nevada's first home game is set for Sept. 11 against the Idaho State Bengals. Subscribe to Yardbarker's Morning Bark, the most comprehensive newsletter in sports. Ahead of his team’s upcoming matchup againstthis weekend, head coach Lane Kiffin referred to the Green Wave as an “SEC opponent.”
Tulane’s recent performances — a narrow 35-40 loss to No. 2 Oklahoma and a 69-20 routing of Morgan State — have shown the chops of an SEC-level program. But if you know anything about early college football history, you know that the Green Wave were once an actual SEC program — and a pretty great one at that.
As one of the flagship members of the SEC in 1932, Tulane went on to win conference titles in 1934, 1939 and 1949.
Seemingly in response to Kiffin’s recent SEC comments, this year’s 2021 team has a special helmet decal to commemorate those three championships.

Ole Miss has claimed six SEC titles in its 115-year history, but each of those championships are nearly as old as Tulane’s. The Rebels most recent conference title came in 1963, just three years before the Green Wave left the SEC in 1966.
If you add up all of the SEC titles collected by Kentucky (2), Mississippi State (1), Arkansas (0), Missouri (0), South Carolina (0), Texas A&M (0) and Vanderbilt (0), it equals the three claimed by Tulane.
Coming off two blowout victories, No. 17 Ole Miss will be a tough task for the former SEC program.
The game will kickoff at 8:00 p.m. ET in Vaught Hemingway Stadium.
