Kerry warns nations are running out of time to decarbonize and challenges China to move away from coal US Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry said in remarks released Tuesday that he is confident the world's largest fossil fuel emitters will ultimately decarbonize. But President Joe Biden's top international climate official warned we're quickly running out of time. "I have no doubt that wealthiest nations ultimately will get to a zero carbon or net (zero) carbon economy," Kerry said.

If you want to point the finger in at anybody as to why Ryan Day's Ohio State football team is 1-1, look no further than Kerry Coombs' defense.

Ohio State struggled all game last Saturday trying to contain the Oregon Ducks' rushing attack. It contributed largely to the Ducks' upset victory over the Buckeyes in Columbus.

Unfortunately for Ohio State, this was not the only bad defensive effort we have seen out of them this year. Even the Minnesota Golden Gophers made things very uncomfortable for them in their Week 1 game.

It seems as though Day is losing confidence in Coombs by the day. While he is still the defensive coordinator, there is a chance he may not even call plays vs. 0-2 Tulsa at home in Week 3.

Ohio State football: Did Ryan Day just put Kerry Coombs on the hot seat?

While Ohio State's defensive issues are a concern, we have to accept that the Buckeyes are not a championship contender this year. They have a new starting quarterback in C.J. Stroud. Though talented, he is very inconsistent and cannot make up for continued issues on the other side of the ball. Though Day may inevitably make Coombs the scapegoat, what does this say about him?

Opinion: Bill Belichick irresponsible to mislead about efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines Bill Belichick pushed back when asked whether Cam Newton being unvaccinated played a role in the Patriots' decision to release the quarterback. In this case, it was downright dangerous.

Day was hand-selected to replace Urban Meyer once he decided to retire from the coaching profession for a second time. While the Buckeyes have made the College Football Playoff each season Day has been at the helm, the Meyer influence is becoming less and less with each passing year in Columbus. If Ohio State does not win the Big Ten, or even to Indianapolis, that is a problem.

Putting the blame on Coombs is one thing, but Ohio State has other issues to figure out as well.
