Fantasy Updates: Javonte Williams, Zack Moss, Michael Carter among RB position battles affecting rankings

Fantasy Updates: Javonte Williams, Zack Moss, Michael Carter among RB position battles affecting rankings As Week 1 approaches, we dive into the top RB position battles among young backs, including Zack Moss, Javonte Williams, and Michael Carter. Fantasy rankings, sleeper lists, and cheat sheets are all in flux because of these players heading into 2021 drafts.Williams has a capable veteran RB in Melvin Gordon sharing the backfield with him, so he's had to earn his work this offseason. Michael Carter isn't in the most talented RB room in the league, but he was merely a Day 3 pick in the 2021 NFL draft. Day 3 picks often see uphill climbs to see a lot of action.

D'Andre Swift and Josh Jacobs are on the latest practice injury reports, and our fantasy RB injury updates will provide some clarity around their situations and how to view them in fantasy this week if they do play. Swift has a much brighter fantasy outlook, while Jacobs is a potenteial bust for a variety of reasons. We'll dive into it all and tell you about the other guys who might be flex considerations if these players do miss Week 2.

Fantasy Football Sleepers 2021: One breakout pick from every team

Fantasy Football Sleepers 2021: One breakout pick from every team Does every team really have a fantasy sleeper candidate heading into 2021? Maybe not, but we still look for the most underrated player from all 32 NFL clubs ahead of your fantasy football draft. With that in mind, we're spreading the good vibes to all 32 teams and trying to find one player (or D/ST) from each who has the potential to outperform his average draft position. Some teams have several viable candidates; others don't really have any. That doesn't stop us, though. Our job is to give you a name, and even if it's someone buried on a depth chart who might spend more time in street clothes than a uniform this year, well, it's a name.

D'Andre Swift Injury Update

Fantasy sites are tabbing Swift (groin) as "questionable" late in the week, but that's largely because Detroit is one day behind a normal practice schedule because of their Monday night game in Green Bay. Last week, it was reported just before kickoff that Swift would have a limited and reduced role, but he wasn't even "questionable" on the final injury report. He finished as a top-seven RB in all formats with 19 total touches for 104 yards and a touchdown. If that was a 'limited' role, then he's heading toward a monster season.

For Week 2, Swift is our RB16 in standard and WR14 in PPR. It certainly seems like Swift will be the beneficiary of a ton of Jared Goff dump-offs this year, as he and Jamaal Williams combined for 16 receptions. That said, if Swift does surprisingly miss this game, Williams is a nice play at the flex spot.

Should I draft Michael Thomas in 2021 fantasy football leagues?

Should I draft Michael Thomas in 2021 fantasy football leagues? Is Michael Thomas worth drafting in your fantasy football league this year? We break down his fantasy outlook, from the injury concerns to the trade worries. This year, Thomas has multiple issues already working against him. First, he'll be sidelined again because of the ankle after electing to get surgery very late in the offseason. His decision was reportedly the result of a rift with the team. While Thomas hasn't been public about his frustration, aside from a cryptic tweet, he has liked a few tweets on Twitter that seem to indicate he was upset with the Saints medical staff.

WEEK 2 STANDARD RANKINGS:

Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker

Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Week 2 lineup advice, best matchups, DFS picks

Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Week 2 lineup advice, best matchups, DFS picks It's only Week 2, but in another unpredictable season, you can bet fantasy football owners have plenty of start 'em, sit 'em questions. Vinnie Iyer has lineup advice and NFL DFS picks to help you keep winning or rebound after losing your season-opening matchup. The good news (or bad, depending how you look at it) is ever team is in action, and aside from Raheem Mostert (knee), Jerry Jeudy (ankle), Michael Gallup (calf), and Ryan Fitzpatrick (hip), there weren't too many notable injuries last week (that we know of). Most fantasy squad will have their full complement of players at their disposals, so it's important to evaluate usage and matchups.

Josh Jacobs Injury Update

Jacobs (toe/ankle) has missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but that's not that surprising since he played on Monday night. Despite being "questionable" because of an illness, Jacobs had 10 carries for 34 yards and a pair of scores. However, he limped out of the game a couple times, so clearly he needs the rest ahead of this week's game in Pittsburgh. The Steelers' defense has been shutting down the run since the birth of the NFL, so Jacobs is a bust candidate if he does play this week.

WEEK 2 DFS LINEUPS: DraftKings | FanDuel | Yahoo

With his uncertainty, Kenyan Drake draws flex consideration in PPR leagues. We expect their rushing attack to be ineffective, so Drake, who caught five passes for 59 yards last week, could be in for a decent day based on receptions alone.

Jacobs is our RB35 in PPR and RB30 in standard leagues. Drake comes in at RB43 in PPR and RB44 in standard. Obviously, neither are must starts, but Drake has sneaky upside given the matchup and Jacob's health concerns. If Jacobs does miss, Drake should be ranked a few spots higher than where Jacobs is now.

Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Week 4 lineup advice, best matchups, DFS picks .

Probably not, but Vinnie Iyer is here to help with Week 4 fantasy lineup advice and DFS picks. As always, SN's Vinnie Iyer, aka "The Decider," is here to help. And just in case you're already sick of your season-long teams and switched to DFS mode, we have some daily picks to click, too.
