Kevin Durant on joining Warriors: ‘I would do that s*** a million times’

Kevin Durant on joining Warriors: ‘I would do that s*** a million times’ Kevin Durant certainly seemed unhappy by the end of his tenure with the Warriors. Joining the Warriors after losing to them in the 2016 playoffs torpedoed his reputation. He has spent the years since futilely trying to convince people he didn’t take the easy route to a championship. Both Draymond Green and Steve Kerr have said Durant didn’t get the credit he felt he deserved for besting LeBron James in the 2017 NBA Finals. Durant reportedly felt disrespected with Golden State. As he put it, he never fit in like other Warriors. He reportedly felt overshadowed by Stephen Curry.

Isaiah Thomas has worked out for a handful of teams this offseason but hasn't found a spot. The Warriors are giving home one more chance.

Free-agent guard Isaiah Thomas was invited to work out with the Golden State Warriors next week.

The road back into an NBA lineup has been a bumpy one for former two-time All-Star Isaiah Thomas but his fortunes may be trending the right way according to a HoopsHype report that the point guard will be working out for the Golden State Warriors next week.

Isaiah Thomas has something to prove

The 32-year-old point guard has had an up-and-down career until now that began with him being the last pick of the 2011 NBA Draft. After three years in Sacramento, where he viably improved each season, he was traded to the Suns and then to Boston, where he found his greatest success in the league.

In his three seasons with the Celtics, Thomas was a back-to-back All-Star in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, behind his 29 points and six assists a game, the 5-foot-9 guard led the Celtics to the first seed in the Eastern Conference and eventually to the Eastern Conference Finals where they lost in five games to the Cavaliers.

As successful as that 2017 season was for Thomas, it also featured grief and tragedy. During the first round of the playoffs, Thomas lost his sister in a fatal car crash. A lingering hip injury that first occurred in March and worsened in the playoffs, forcing him to miss the last three games of the conference finals.

Report: Lakers work out Isaiah Thomas, others in search for more depth

Report: Lakers work out Isaiah Thomas, others in search for more depth Thomas got to have his workout with LeBron and Westbrook. And they are not done. At this point in the offseason, as teams round out the back end of their rosters, it’s harder to find quality players for minimum deals, but the Lakers have two more spots and worked out a few guys this week: Isaiah Thomas, Mike James, and Darren Collison. So reports Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

That following offseason, he was traded to the Cavaliers in exchange for Kyrie Irving — and since then, it has been a revolving door of trying to prove that he's still good and despite his small frame, still belongs in the NBA.

Thomas has had brief stints with the Lakers, Nuggets, Wizards and Pelicans but is hoping to find a home in the NBA before the season kicks off in October. Recently, he scored 81 points in a Crawsover Pro-Am game in Seattle. Immediately following the game, a video surfaced of Thomas lamenting that the NBA had "given up" on him.

For the Warriors, they're looking to fill their last roster spot and have tried out other guards to join the bottom half of their rotation. Thomas could fit in as a scoring punch deep down the bench if Golden State likes what they see and signs him.

According to NBA correspondent Marc Stein, the Lakers gave Isaiah Thomas a workout prior to his famed 81 point Pro-Am game.

Warriors bringing in Avery Bradley, Langston Galloway to training camp .
The Warriors will have a training camp competition for the last roster spot. The Warriors have an open 15th roster spot and are looking at two guards/wings to fill that spot (and potentially eat up some minutes until Klay Thompson returns). Steve Kerr has said the team plans a little training camp competition for the slot, if the Warriors choose to fill it. They are bringing Gary Payton II and Mychal Mulder to camp to compete for that spot, but those two are not alone, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic. Avery Bradley and Langston Galloway are getting shots.
