As world marks 9/11, Taliban flag raised over seat of power
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The Taliban raised their iconic white flag over the Afghan presidential palace Saturday, a spokesman said, as the U.S. and the world marked the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. The banner, emblazoned with a Quranic verse, was hoisted by Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the prime minister of the Taliban interim government, in a low-key ceremony, said Ahmadullah Muttaqi, multimedia branch chief of the Taliban’s cultural commission. © Provided by Associated Press A man walks down the stairs at dusk in Kabul, Afghanistan, Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021.
Hello and happy Saturday.
Curt Casali’s season has kind of flown under the radar. Histenure got off to a pretty disastrous start, as limited playing time behind Buster Posey, mixed with tremendously awful BABIP luck, had his slash line looking rather ugly.
But all the while he called great games behind the dish, played strong defense, and seemed to fit in quite well. And then eventually the bat started to come around. I’ve noticed that some fans still seem to think he’s had a rough year, but it’s been a quality season for a backup backstop.
The Giants video team decided to use Casali as the star in their latest episode of “Catchin’ Up,” the fun little YouTube show they have where they play catch with someone on the team while asking them fun questions.
Rodrigo Blankenship, DK Metcalf took awesome picture referencing viral tweet
Colts kicker Rodrigo Blankenship and Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf are curiously associated with each other. They don’t play the same position, but they do share a meme. © Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports Blankenship and Metcalf were the subjects of a viral tweet from last November. It showed Blankenship, glasses and relatively thin, next to the notoriously jacked Metcalf, and remarked on how funny it was that they play the same sport. I love the NFL because both of these humans play the same sport professionally pic.twitter.
It’s worth checking out.
