Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a compound fracture and dislocation to his right ankle that required Sunday night surgery. In a class gesture, Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett — the former Cowboys head coach — crossed battle lines to check on Prescott . Prescott , with tears streaming down his face, had his leg wrapped in an air cast and he was loaded onto a cart as he chewed on a towel to control his emotions.

This Sunday, Oct. 10, the Cowboys host the Giants for a Week 5 matchup that will include Prescott in the Dallas lineup as both the team's QB1 and an early legitimate NFL Most Valuable Player candidate.

"I definitely fast-forward through that play. I’ve watched that play a couple of times, and when it comes up, I can say I watch the beginning of it but not the end of the run," Prescott explained Thursday about reliving the injury, per Todd Archer of ESPN. "I don’t think much about it. It’s kind of past it, and it’s really not something I care to see and know that I’ve done a lot to get past it."

Among eligible quarterbacks, Prescott starts Week 5 fourth overall with a 116.9 passer rating, and he's second with a 75.2 completion percentage.
