First Quarter:

The Memphis Grizzlies rolled out a starting lineup of: Tyus Jones, Desmond Bane, De’Anthony Melton, Brandon Clarke, and Xavier Tillman. Memphis got off to a solid start on both ends of the floor. Memphis didn’t particularly shoot the three ball well in the first quarter, but Brandon Clarke stood out, which was needed for the third year Grizzly as he hit a top of the arc three, and rotated well defensively for Memphis. Clarke had five points, two rebounds, and one assists. Memphis led Atlanta 22-21 after one quarter at FedExForum.

Quick Recap: Grizzlies led the way, but fire alarm sets off game

Quick Recap: Grizzlies led the way, but fire alarm sets off game So that’s a weird way to start the seasonThe Grizzlies started out the game with a blitz, as they jumped out to an 11-0 run out the gate. Ja Morant led the charge with his aggression, looking to score early and often. He hit a pull-up 3 that turned into an and-1, and he nearly baptized Brook Lopez at the rim. The offense was in tune, and the defense made good rotations to stifle the Bucks early. The Grizzlies ended the 1st quarter with an 35-23 lead.

Atlanta Hawks . Rodney Hood scores a career high 32 points as the Jazz defeat the Grizzlies 92- 87 .

The Memphis Grizzlies kicked off the post-Iguodala era with a meeting against the Philadelphia 76ers. Unfortunately, the deadline acquisitions — Justise Winslow, Gorgui Dieng, and Jordan Bell — were unavailable for tonight’s game. Meanwhile, the Sixers were coming off a frustrating loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, and with a four-game losing streak. Well, let’s say the Sixers played with an edge here. No one in the first half — or this game, for that matter — really dominated for the Grizzlies . Tyus Jones and Kyle Anderson were only ones with more than one field goal in the first half.

Second Quarter:

Riding a one point lead heading into the second quarter, Memphis continued to muddy up the game for the Hawks. Memphis forced nine first half turnovers, and Santi Aldama, Memphis’ second first round pick, looked really comfortable in the Grizzlies offensive sets. Aldama looked more fluid in the first half than he did all of Summer League. Aldama led all scorers with nine first half points. Memphis led the Hawks 40-37 in a low scoring affair.

Third Quarter:

A higher paced third quarter saw Memphis shoot the ball better from beyond the arc. Desmond Bane continued his impressive preseason showing with 18 points through three quarters. Memphis and Atlanta raised their scoring in the third quarter as well, as Memphis held a 27-24 advantage in that third quarter. The Grizzlies and the Hawks were locked into a slug fest heading to the fourth quarter tied at 64 a piece.

The Memphis Grizzlies completed their preseason slate Saturday night against the Atlanta Hawks , and found a way to blow a 19 point lead to lose the finale of their four games in the preseason, falling short of an undefeated record. That of course in meaningless - you don’t get extra regular season credit when it comes to victories in preseason play. Focusing on the final Grizzlies / Hawks game until literally next Saturday night - some quick takeaways. Grayson Allen apparently reads the blog.

The Memphis Grizzlies were first located in Vancouver after the National Basketball Association (NBA) granted the city an expansion team on April 27, 1994, and they first participated in the NBA draft in 1995.

Fourth Quarter:

The Grizzlies held a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter, but the Hawks made a huge run towards the end of the fourth quarter. Overall, the Hawks just had more ammunition to come back late in the fourth, as Memphis only scored three points in the final four minutes. Rest was the goal for Memphis tonight, as they would fall to the Hawks 91-87 at FedEx Forum.

The Grizzlies will be back in action on Monday night as they’ll take on the Detroit Pistons in Preseason action.
