Lions pass-rusher Romeo Okwara believed to have torn Achilles

Lions pass-rusher Romeo Okwara believed to have torn Achilles A torn Achilles would instantly end the 26-year-old’s season and leave Detroit without one of its best defenders. Okwara re-upped with the Lions on three-year, $39M deal in March with $25M guaranteed. He registered a career-high 10 sacks last year, setting himself up for another impactful season.Similar to Shaquil Barrett — who scored a $72M deal from the Bucs — Okwara was hardly known just a few years ago. He missed the Giants’ 53-man cut in ’18, but he developed into something of a sack machine. The Lions didn’t get to see much of that in 2021, unfortunately.

Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury will not make the trip to Cleveland to help his 5-0 squad extend their winning streak against the Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium Sunday.

Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, former Denver Broncos coach from 2017-18, will take his place.

The criterion is coaches who missed a game or more and came back at some point during the regular season. Instances where a coach resigned due to the game not being fun anymore (Bum Phillips, 1985) or for what were determined to be health reasons (Bobby Ross, 2000) are outside the realm as they did not come back for that given season.
