Panelists unveil ballots for NBA's Greatest 75 players: Jordan, LeBron, Wilt and also Sikma, Horry

Panelists unveil ballots for NBA's Greatest 75 players: Jordan, LeBron, Wilt and also Sikma, Horry Our panel of 15 voters had all the familar names on their list -- Jordan, LeBron, Magic, Kareem -- but also names that may need an explanation.Of course, players like Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Oscar Robertson, Kobe Bryant, Kawhi Leonard, George Mikan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will be on any list of the Top 75 great players. The trick is where they appear on any given list.

The Washington Wizards will host their home opener today against the Indiana Pacers. If you are going to the game tonight, go to section 111 and you will see a new shrine in honor of the late Wes Unseld, the GOAT in Wizards franchise history. During his player career, Unseld won an MVP and Rookie of the Year award in the same season (1968-69), five All-Star Game appearances and a championship in 1978 with Washington. Unseld would later become the then-Bullets’ head coach and General Manager.

Wizards will be improved this season, but enough to sell Beal on staying?

Wizards will be improved this season, but enough to sell Beal on staying? The Wizards added depth, versatility, and defensive options they lacked a season ago. The team also has financial flexibility going forward, which seemed impossible a couple of seasons ago when John Wall‘s contract anchored the books. All the offseason moves still leave two questions for Washington heading into the season: How much better will the Wizards be? Is it enough to keep Bradley Beal happy and have him re-sign with the team? That second question is the big cloud hanging over the season — Beal is the franchise, the man who has been second in the NBA in scoring the past two seasons.

The bust is made of bronze and weighs about 90 pounds, designed by J. Brent Gill.

Congratulations to Unseld’s family for getting an opportunity to see this honor. Check out the bust next time you see a Wizards or Capitals game this winter!
