Charlotte Roval Cup starting lineup: Denny Hamlin on pole
Here is how the field will start for Sunday's cutoff race in the NASCAR Cup playoffs at the Charlotte Roval on NBC.Hamlin will be joined on the front row by Brad Keselowski. Joey Logano starts third and has Christopher Bell next to him in the second row. Martin Truex Jr. starts fifth and has inaugural Roval winner Ryan Blaney next to him. Chase Elliott, who has won the past two Cup races at the Roval, starts eighth.
NASCAR Cup Series drivers Chase Briscoe and Denny Hamlin have continued to exchange words after their run-in during Sunday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway — this time on social media.
The pair made contact in the final stage of the Round of 8 opener at the 1.5-mile track. The left-front fender of Briscoe’s No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford roughed up the right-rear quarter panel of Hamlin’s No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. While Hamlin continued on, Briscoe didn’t come away unscathed, receiving heavy damage to the right side of his machine after making contact with the outside wall and cutting a tire.

Watkins Glen marked the third time this season Chase Elliott has lost points because of NASCAR infractions.Those lost points are significant and could impact his chances to win a second consecutive Cup title.
This isn’t the first time Briscoe and Hamlin have had words this season. During an overtime finish in the inaugural Cup Series race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course,coming to the white flag. Briscoe was unaware that he was under penalty for cutting the corner in Turn 1. The two had a discussion on pit road after the race concluded.

NASCAR: 'Hack' Alex Bowman wins at Martinsville as Larson, Elliott, Hamlin and Truex Jr. will race for the title .
Alex Bowman won at Martinsville after he sent Denny Hamlin spinning with less than five laps to go. Hamlin was leading the race when Bowman slid up the track trying to make a race-winning pass. Hamlin went sliding into the wall and caused a late-race caution. Bowman then held off Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski on a two-lap restart for his first win at Martinsville.
