Pederson had spent a decade in the Dodgers organization. He got drafted in 2010. He made an All-Star team in 2015. He helped win a World Series in 2020. Friedman told Pederson how much he meant to the franchise. Friedman held firm, even when a robust market for Pederson failed to materialize. He signed with the Cubs. Atlanta acquired him in July to mitigate the loss of Ronald Acuña Jr. In only a handful of playoff at-bats, he has shown his new city why his Dodgers teammates dubbed this month “Joctober.”

He acquired Adam Duvall, Joc Pederson , and NLCS MVP Eddie Rosario, who became the NLCS MVP. The Braves have mojo coming into this Fall Classic. They rebuilt their outfield during the season, hit on their deadline acquisitions, snuck into the playoffs with 88 wins and knocked off the 106-win Dodgers . There’s an old-school manager in Brian Snitker, who gets an old fashioned three World Series starts from Charlie Morton, and the result is Atlanta’s first title since 1995 and thousands of insufferable Braves fans.

Even after beating them in the NLCS to advance to the World Series, Atlanta Braves OF Joc Pederson says he still has his former Los Angeles Dodgers teammates cheering him on against the Houston Astros.

Pederson signed as a free agent at the beginning of the 2021 Major League Baseball season with the Chicago Cubs. After the Cubs decided to be sellers rather than buyers at the trade deadline, they dealt the outfielder to Atlanta, who decided to go for it even after losing their star OF Ronald Acuña Jr. Pederson played 64 games for the Braves, batting .249 and launching seven home runs in the second half. He helped the Braves clinch the NL East and eventually a birth in the 2021 World Series.

Joc Pederson gets sweet revenge on his former team by obliterating this poor baseball off Los Angeles Dodgers ace Max Scherzer to tie the ballgame up at two. When the Atlanta Braves acquired Pederson from the Chicago Cu bs, they had no earthly idea he would become such a cultural phenomenon. Wearing a pearl necklace and cranking balls out of Truist Park with his Anthony Rizzo bat, Pederson has provided the swagger Braves Country was missing since Ronald Acuña Jr. tore his ACL.

I think it should be noted that there was a shortened season that year, because it's noteworthy. But it in no way should take away from the championship. Kind of like how the 2013 hockey season was shortened due to lockout, but no one says the Blackhawks should have an asterisk next to it. I'd much rather have Joc and the three home runs that he hit in the 2017 World Series without cheating. Also, you might want to leave Champ Pederson out of posts calling Joc a douche. Doing so is such a douche move

The Dodgers , meanwhile, will go home having failed to win consecutive championships for the first time in franchise history and still having yet to win a full-season World Series championship since 1988. The last lap was appropriately staggering for a Dodgers team that was already stumbling toward the finish line. The front office let clutch heroes Kiké Hernández and Joc Pederson both walk through free agency, and never really replaced them. It was perhaps no coincidence that, earlier in October, on a night when the Dodgers were shut out by the San Francisco Giants in the National League Division

No love lost between the Dodgers and the Astros

Of course, we all know why Pederson's former teammates are on his side. The Astros defeated the Dodgers in the 2017 World Series, clinching their first title in franchise history. It was later reported and thereafter proven that the Astros were unfairly alerting teammates to certain pitches being used by banging on trashcans in the dugout and even using sensors worn on their bodies.

Members of the coaching staff from that year were handed suspensions, but no real punishment was brought down on the players involved in the cheating scandal. The Dodgers have not since forgotten they were cheated out of a real chance at winning the World Series that year. They did eventually get one though, winning it in the 2020 COVID-19 shortened campaign.
