2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational Fantasy golf rankings, DFS picks: Back Collin Morikawa at TPC Southwind

2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational Fantasy golf rankings, DFS picks: Back Collin Morikawa at TPC Southwind Riley Gates has locked in his top Fantasy picks for the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational 2021 . Be sure to head over to SportsLine so you can cash in big with your Fantasy golf picks. 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational Fantasy golf picksMorikawa has been on fire, and Gates doesn't expect him to cool off this week in Memphis. The 24-year-old won his second career major a few weeks ago at the Open Championship, then went to Japan to represent Team USA. All he did there was shoot 15-under par to make a seven-man playoff for bronze. C.T. Pan took the medal, but Morikawa's game remains sharp.

A grueling schedule continues for the PGA Tour's top golfers when the 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational tees off Thursday at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tenn. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics tournament just wrapped up, the British Open was just three weeks ago, and the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup playoffs start in two weeks. But 66 of the world's top players, including 48 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking, will be in action for this WGC event. That includes Olympic gold medalist Xander Shauffele and fellow Team USA golfers Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas. Bryson DeChambeau will play this week, while world No. 1 Jon Rahm is out after both tested positive for COVID and had to withdraw from the Summer Games.

Brooks Koepka, who won this event in 2019, is the 12-1 favorite in the latest 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational odds from Caesars Sportsbook. Morikawa (14-1) and Schauffele (14-1) are right behind, followed by defending champion Thomas (16-1), Jordan Spieth (16-1) and Rory McIlroy (18-1). Before locking in any 2021 FedEx St. Jude Invitational picks or any PGA Tour predictions, you need to see what proven golf insider Sal Johnson has to say.

A media legend and consummate golf insider, Johnson knows what it takes to win on the biggest stage. Before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics golf competition, he listed Schauffele, Morikawa, McIlroy and Hideki Matsuyama among his top five golfers.

Schauffele gutted it out on the final holes to win the gold medal at 18-under par, while the other three went 15 under and competed in the seven-man playoff won by C.T. Pan of Chinese Taipei.

Johnson has been on fire all season. Before the Open Championship, he said Morikawa would win if he could "overcome his poor putting." He did just that, saving par several times to win his second major championship.

And before the U.S. Open, he tabbed Rahm among his best bets to win and touted Oosthuizen at 45-1 as his top long-shot candidate. Rahm and Oosthuizen battled to the finish, with Rahm surging to his first major title. Anyone who has followed Johnson's advice has cashed in huge.

Now Johnson, the first producer of "Inside the PGA Tour," a longtime ABC Sports golf producer who worked with Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Greg Norman, and the founder of the world's top golf stats database, has released his highly confident 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational golf picks, and they will surprise you. Top 2020 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational golf predictions

Shockingly, the golf expert is fading Schauffele after his gritty performance in Tokyo. The combination of the emotional victory and the long trip back make it unlikely the 27-year-old will be at the top of his game. It was his first win since January 2019, so the chances he will contend again this week are slim. He tied for sixth at Southwind last year but was T-27 in 2019. Johnson has several options in mind for this week who have more sustained track records.

On the other hand, Johnson knows Spieth has been going through quite a resurgence. The 28-year-old three-time major winner went almost four years without a victory before winning the Valero Texas Open in April. That was the first of five top-10 finishes over his past eight events, and he was outside the top 20 just once in that span. He is second in FedEx Cup points and ranks 11th in scoring average (69.909) and seventh in par breakers (24.69 percent). Spieth is putting well, ranking 31st in strokes gained and seventh in overall putting average (1.567 per hole).

Johnson also knows Dustin Johnson is having a messy season but could break through at any time. The reigning FedEx Cup champion and No. 2 player in the world didn't go to Tokyo, so he won't be run down like many of his competitors. He also has a strong history at TPC Southwind, winning the St. Jude Classic in 2012 and 2018 and finishing T-12 last year. He missed the cut at the 3M Open but was T-8 at the British Open, shooting 68 or better in three rounds. He is third in scoring average (69.658) and eighth in driving distance (312.8 yards).

How to make 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational golf picks

For this week's event in Memphis, Johnson is backing a long shot with a great track record at Southwind who comes in at higher than 30-1 odds. This golfer is great from tee-to-green and can make all the putts he needs. Anyone who backs this underdog could cash in huge. You can only see this WGC-FedEx St. Jude pick only at SportsLine.
