  Xavi 'looking forward to going home' as Barca negotiate with Al Sadd Xavi Hernandez said on Wednesday he was "looking forward to going home" and hopes Barcelona can reach an agreement with Al Sadd in "a matter of hours, maybe days" to secure his return to the club as coach. “I think it is a matter of hours, maybe days.  They know my position, hopefully it can be done."Barcelona sent vice-president Rafa Yuste and director of football Mateu Alemany to Doha for talks on Wednesday but club president Joan Laporta did not travel with them.Alemany and Yuste both watched Al Sadd's game against Al Duhail from the stands.

Pep Guardiola has been asked for his thoughts on Xavi taking over as Barcelona coach and thinks the former midfielder will be able to turn things around at the Camp Nou.

Xavi was officially presented on Monday and faces a challenge with the team struggling in La Liga and already 11 points off top spot.

Guardiola obviously knows Xavi very well and while he didn’t seem to like comparisons between the two he does think the 41-year-old can offer a lot to the Catalan giants.

“I wasn’t the heir to anybody and Xavi doesn’t have to be my heir,” he said.

“If Joan Laporta and the board have chosen Xavi then it’s because there are millions of pros and few cons.

Meanwhile Xavi was asked about Guardiola at a news conference after his unveiling and made it clear how highly he regards his former coach. He said, “If they compare me to Guardiola then it’s something very positive, he’s the best manager in the world.
