Detroit's students bear the brunt of Democrats' attack on charters

Detroit's students bear the brunt of Democrats' attack on charters Congressional Democrats’ fixation with contracts and structures overlooks what schools are doing to help students. In 2017, the Detroit Free Press touted a national report that, on the surface, suggested Michigan's charter sector was underperforming as a result of depending on EMOs. But a closer look at the data showed the opposite. A subsequent University of Michigan study further found that the state's largest charter school network, National Heritage Academies, gives its students a superior education in math, compared to students in a control group.

23 XI Racing expansion, other entries and exits through charters in NASCAR. It was earlier reported that Front Row Motorsports would sell one of their two charters to 23 XI Racing . But the ‘done deal’ somehow fell through later. This was disappointing for the Hamlin-Jordan-operated team because they had already announced Kurt Busch himself is making his move from Chip Ganassi Racing , another team whose charter is being acquired by Trackhouse Racing in 2022. Sources indicate 23 XI tentative deal for a charter from Front Row has collapsed, as Front Row has walked away from final talks.

23 XI Racing made it clear all year that it wanted to expand to two cars and eventually more. The next step, though, is making both cars competitive. “It’ s always been a vision of ours to expand," Hamlin said. "This is the first step in that. However, for us, it’ s going to be how can we get our two cars running up front before we think about doing anything further. Busch drove Chevrolets for Ganassi and Phoenix Racing . He drove Dodges for Team Penske. He drove Fords at Stewart-Haas Racing . And now he will get behind the wheel of a Toyota for 23 XI . He has driven a Toyota before, just not full time.

23XI Racing has secured a second charter, Steve Lauletta, president of the team, confirmed Tuesday night on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

The charter will go to the No. 45 car for Kurt Busch. He will be a teammate to Bubba Wallace.

Lauletta told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio’s “Late Shift” that the deal for the charter closed Tuesday. The team announced multiple hires on its competition side earlier in the day. Billy Scott will join the team as Busch’s crew chief.

“Both of our cars will have charters for next season and beyond,” Lauletta told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

23 XI Racing is expected to purchase a charter from outgoing NASCAR team StarCom Racing , sources say, securing a second one for the team owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin. 23 XI , which just wrapped up its rookie season this month as a one- car team, is expanding to two cars next year when it onboards driver Kurt Busch and sponsor Monster Energy. As a result, the team has been in talks to acquire a second charter -- and it was close to a deal for one earlier this fall with Front Row Motorsports before those negotiations collapsed at the 11th hour.

NASCAR 23 XI Kurt Busch Auto Racing . Hamlin released more details Saturday about the new partnership and said he is in the final stages of securing a charter for Busch ' s No. 45 Toyota in 2022. Charters guarantee teams 36 spots in each week’s 40- car field. Without one, Busch would have to qualify for every race .

Lauletta said the charter comes from StarCom Racing in a deal that includes Spire Motorsports.

“It’s an interesting process in terms of trying to make sure everything is aligned, both from our desire to get the right package in terms of what goes into purchasing the charter, and then for the seller to get the right package on their end ” he said.

“We were lucky enough to work with StarCom. They also have some things going with Spire with equipment and other pieces. So, the three of us kind of got together, and we now have the charter we need on the 45.”

StarCom Racing announced before the end of the season that it had sold its charter. The team also issued a “goodbye” to its fans in that announcement.

This is among a few charters to change teams for the 2022 season. Kaulig Racing secured two charters from Spire Motorsports. Trackhouse Racing purchased Chip Ganassi Racing and acquired Ganassi’s two charters in the deal. GMS Racing also is expected to secure a charter for the car Ty Dillon will drive next season.
