Boston Celtics Daily Links 11/12/21 All the Celtics news you need in one convenient place.

Some context: Last year all the key decision makers in the Sixers organization had signed off on a Simmons /Harden trade, including Joel Embiid. Ben was informed by the organization that he was likely being moved. It didn’ t materialize and all parties moved forward w/o friction. JD Drew was so hated by Philly fans when he refused to sign with the Phillies after being drafted that we also booed his brother, Stephen Drew, relentlessly whenever he came to town. It will be invigorating to have a true Philly sports villain again.

Ben Simmons believes the Philadelphia 76ers' recent actions are exacerbating his mental health issues, and that the team wants to deem him fit to force him to play, regardless of what he tells the team's mental health therapist, his agent told The Tom Moore @TomMoorePhilly # Sixers coach Doc Rivers: Ben Simmons was in the back during film session today but not on the floor during shootaround. Says he’s focused on the guys who can play. Doesn’ t know if Simmons will be on upcoming 6-game road trip and isn’ t thinking about it.

I think Ben Simmons wanted to be traded. I feel like, he felt like how it was; people weren’t loyal to him. I do feel like he’s dealing with some stuff. I do. There were times last year that the 76ers were like making it seem like he was bothered by one thing, but they knew it was something else. I just feel like he feels betrayed. He feels like nobody really has his back, and it’s time to move on. Not only that. He also knows that the average Philadelphian wants him outta here. They don’t want him. There’s gonna be no more hostile place for Ben Simmons to play than in Philadelphia.

Report: Sixers fine Ben Simmons for failing to travel with team on road trip

Report: Sixers fine Ben Simmons for failing to travel with team on road trip The Philadelphia 76ers have fined the disgruntled point guard an unspecified amount for failing to travel on their upcoming road trip, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. The Philadelphia 76ers have fined Ben Simmons for failing to travel on their six-game road trip, sources say. Charania presents the standoff as a a disagreement between the two sides over Simmons' mental health. Simmons' camp reportedly claims the Sixers are trying to force him to play despite his struggles with mental health, while the team apparently wants information from its mental health professionals that actually show Simmons' need for time off.

Rivers said he wanted to put Simmons in more situations that resemble Giannis Antetokounmpo’s role in Milwaukee, with four shooters surrounding him, empowering him to be a primary scoring option with the second unit. Rivers and Morey, according to sources, said that Simmons and Embiid are the best defensive duo in basketball, and with some slight tweaks, they could be even more productive on the offensive Man this game was crazy, the type the team in control all game HATES to lose, makes you depressed. Jojo and Furk to the rescue. Man I'm feeling so good after that win, that was fucking great.

Report: 76ers fine Ben Simmons for not joining team on road trip

Report: 76ers fine Ben Simmons for not joining team on road trip Simmons says he is not mentally ready to play. Recently the 76ers started fining Simmons again until he worked with a team recommended specialist on his mental health issues and took part in other basketball-related obligations. Simmons complied with part of that and did meet with a team recommended mental health professional, however, he is still not around the team in a meaningful way. That led the 76ers to fine Simmons for not joining the team on its current six-game road trip, even if he wasn’t going to play, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Ben Simmons believes the Philadelphia 76ers’ recent actions are exacerbating his mental health issues, and that the team wants to deem him fit to force him to play, regardless of what he tells the team’s mental health therapist, his agent told The Athletic on Thursday. “I truly believe the fines They have maintained that they would like him back out on the floor with the team, but at this point, maybe the fines aren’ t working and they need to just help him get back with the team. The situation is tricky, but there needs to be some cooperation from both sides. This post originally appeared on Sixers Wire!

The 76ers are not trying to move Simmons and have made clear that they will not deal him at this time, according to sources. The franchise wants Simmons to show up to practices and games, to be engaged and to perform to his capabilities. Simmons is not against playing, but he is not mentally ready yet, sources insist. Source: Shams Charania @ The Athletic. What’s the buzz on Twitter? Tom Ziller @teamziller The Sixers organization and Ben Simmons continue to punch themselves and each other in the face repeatedly.

More on this storyline

I think they gotta trade him, man. A lot of it will be predicated on how successful the 76ers are. I feel like if the 76ers are successful, and they have a chance of going deep in the playoffs, I can see them making a move and bringing somebody in. If the 76ers are struggling, and they decide to shut it down, then I can see them holding off until they can get somebody, maybe in free agency, in a sign and trade type of thing. I can’t see Ben Simmons being here and being a part of the team long term. Who knows? Never say never, but I don’t really see this marriage where you fine this dude, and you’re doing all this other stuff ,and he decides to all of a sudden come out and play. I can’t see that happening -via SportsKeeda / November 26, 2021 Asking around, some believe the Sixers will be happy to carry this through the full 2021-22 season and resume discussions again next offseason when a new set of opportunities will become available to them. That could take shape in the form of sign-and-trade possibilities, disgruntled stars finally asking out of their own problematic situations, or new management hires for other franchises wanting to take big swings on talent like Simmons. And publicly, the Sixers have certainly suggested an extension of this standoff is possible, with Morey going so far as to say he’d take this all four years of Simmons’ deal if that’s what it took to get the best deal. -via Philly Voice / November 20, 2021 There are opportunities to fill the void with rumors and suggestions about what the Sixers are doing and where trade talks are or are not heading. The answer right now is, well, not much of anywhere, as sources say the Sixers are mostly waiting for things to open up a bit more on December 15th. That’s the day, as I’m sure many of you know and have heard by now, that most players who signed contracts in the offseason can legally be traded, creating opportunities for larger deals around the league. -via Philly Voice / November 20, 2021
