Big 12 fans were stunned when reports surfaced in July that Oklahoma and Texas planned to leave the conference for the SEC. Just days later, the schools made it official. While the Sooners and Longhorns won’t leave for the SEC until 2025, their plans first became public in a Houston Chronicle story. That was especially true Monday when coach Lincoln Riley left the Sooners for a job with Southern California, and Oklahoma president Joe Harroz said, “we would’ve liked more notice.” Even though the Sooners’ plan to leave the Big 12 and Riley bolting for USC are not a perfect comparison, some fans

If you agree with Lincoln Riley (not saying I do per se) he' s saying that media will say the big 12 doesn't play defense, but in bowl games big 12 teams haven't really given up more yards or points than any other power5 conference. I think the idea is that the style of offense in the big 12 is conducive to giving up yards and points, so the defenses get a worse rep than they probably deserve. Why would I have any interest in coaching college football?

Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby had a fascinating response on SiriusXM Radio about Lincoln Riley.

Bowlsby was asked about Riley leaving for USC and his rumored interest in LSU before that move. He admit he wasn’t surprised about Riley not being interested in the Tigers.

“Those were certainly surprises,” Bowlsby said. “Coach Riley had been mentioned in conjunction with the LSU position, and I really thought that there wasn’t much credence to that because I just, I know what a fine guy Lincoln Riley is.

“He’s an outstanding coach, obviously, but he’s a high-quality person and he is mature beyond his years. And so, you know, it was a little bit surprising that he did jump ship (for USC), but I wasn’t surprised that he wasn’t interested in the LSU position because culturally that’s just not what Lincoln Riley is.”

Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley put the chaotic ending to the Baylor game to rest on Tuesday. “We have a duty to ensure a safe game environment that provides the visiting team secure egress from the field for players, staff and support personnel, and protection of the team bench area,” Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said in a statement. “I appreciate Baylor’ s advance planning and communication, and although well planned, the end-of-game circumstances made its field storming plan impossible to execute, resulting in an interruption of play, impeding the visiting team from reaching

Will Lincoln Riley bring the help USC needs? Riley had been instrumental in Nelson's recruitment and a big part of why he chose the Sooners in the first place. Nelson, McKinzie, Inniss and Webb were not the only recruits to react to Riley ' s departure . USC had been a school of interest for Brown before he chose Oklahoma, but similar to other recent California recruits, he chose to go out of

The shade at LSU from Bowlsby is likely due to Oklahoma leaving the Big 12 in 2025 to go to the SEC.

The Sooners have been one of the best teams in the conference for many years as they’ve won a National Championship and have been to several others while being a member of the Big 12.

Riley left for USC last Sunday after finishing 55-10 overall in five seasons with Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Fans Need to Get Over Lincoln Riley .
Oklahoma fans are hating on Lincoln Riley. They need to move on.Things have gotten downright nuts on Oklahoma message boards this week, with wild rumors and accusations flying at Riley and the assistant coaches he's bringing with him. Wild conspiracy theories about an affair and a lawsuit that would force USC to fire him ran rampant -- these kinds of rumors always run wild when a coach leaves a school. But for the most part there has just been a lot of petty vitriol aimed at a coach who opted to take a fantastic opportunity.
