Kayvon Thibodeaux is headed for the NFL . The Oregon defensive end announced via social media he will forego his senior season and intends to declare for the 2022 NFL Draft . The L.A. native chose not to stay home, instead heading north to play for Mario Cristobal and the Oregon Ducks, making Oregon football must-see TV for every game in which Thibodeaux appeared. Thibodeaux earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors in 2019 and was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2020.

In the back of Kayvon Thibodeaux ' s mind, the mental scaffolding for the 2022 NFL Draft has already been built. The crazies in the crowd wearing Ford engine blocks on their heads are screaming his name, hoping he transforms their team' s defense. Fashionistas are dressing him, marketers are promoting him, agents are positioning him. Oregon is the dominant program in a conference whose reputation has slipped. Thibodeaux ' s kind of edge speed rush ability can transform a defense and wreck an offense. It is a position that can be silent for long stretches and still impact a game .

Playing in the Alamo Bowl under an interim head coach apparently wasn't enough to entice Kayvon Thibodeaux into finishing Oregon's season.

Thibodeaux, a defensive end considered by many to be among the top prospects of the 2022 NFL draft, declared for the draft in an announcement via Instagram on Monday.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Thibodeaux will skip Oregon's bowl game and has already signed with an agent.

Thibodeaux entered this season atop many an NFL mock draft and did little to change his perceived value, racking up 35 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and seven sacks in 10 games, though he missed time with an ankle injury early in the season.

Falcons don't have an update on wideout Calvin Ridley

Falcons don't have an update on wideout Calvin Ridley The wideout announced in late October that he’d be stepping away from football to deal with his mental health. The organization later placed him on the reserve/non-football injury list, meaning he’d miss at least three additional games. The 26-year-old is now eligible to come off the list, but it doesn’t sound like he’s ready to return to football. The 2018 first-round pick emerged as one of the NFL’s top wideouts in 2020, finishing with 90 receptions for 1,374 yards and nine touchdowns. This was going to be a pivotal year for the former first-round pick.

Oregon Ducks defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux , who’ s expected to be a top -five pick in the 2021 NFL Draft , suffered an injury against Fresno State on Saturday that forced him out of action and into a walking boot. Stewart Mandel of The Athletic reported on Thibodeaux ’ s status when he emerged The momentum of Saturday’ s game completely changed when Thibodeaux went down. He attempted to reenter the game , but was obviously hindered by the injury and didn’t continue. From there, Haener had much more time to throw in the pocket, giving the Bulldogs a legitimate upset chance at Autzen

With Thibodeaux spearheading their defense, the Ducks carried a top 10 ranking for much of the season, but ultimately fell short of the College Football Playoff due to two losses to Utah, the second in the Pac-12 title game. After days of speculation, Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal left the program earlier Monday for his alma mater Miami.

Oregon is now set to go into the Alamo Bowl against Oklahoma, another program that lost its head coach after a disappointing season, with pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach Brian McClendon working as interim head coach. Oklahoma currently sits as a three-point favorite at BetMGM.

Where will Kayvon Thibodeaux go in the 2022 NFL draft?

Thibodeaux has almost been the default pick for the No. 1 spot in most mock drafts this season. Here's how Yahoo Sports Eric Edholm described him earlier Monday:

Cincinnati HC Luke Fickell reportedly not interested in USC job

Cincinnati HC Luke Fickell reportedly not interested in USC job Many have viewed Fickell as a natural candidate for USC. While Cincinnati is having an outstanding season and should receive College Football Playoff consideration, there is also the athletic director connection. USC AD Mike Bohn was the AD at Cincinnati when Fickell was hired as head coach there in 2017. USC boosters might be hoping Bohn can convince Fickell to take the job, but it doesn’t sound likely.Fickell is currently focused on stating the case for Cincinnati to be considered one of the four-best teams in the country.

Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux , a potential No. 1 pick in the 2022 NFL draft , has struck his first known NIL deal on a nonfungible token (NFT) with Nike founder Phil Knight and celebrated sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield. Thibodeaux revealed the NFT on social media Tuesday night. "Life is filled with many trials and tribulations, but God has guided my steps and provided me with great opportunities AND the clarity to navigate them with wisdom and integrity," Thibodeaux wrote on Twitter .

College Football bowl week is around the corner, and before you know it, NFL Draft All-Star games With All-Star game roster invites rolling out and prospects begin declaring for the NFL Draft , let' s Kayvon Thibodeaux is one such prospect who has been considered a future first-overall pick "It is not easy for a prospect to establish themself as a top option while surrounded by future NFL receivers.

Thibodeaux is a special talent with great athletic traits and ideal physical measurements. He also has refined some of his pass-rush techniques over the past two years and has become a plus run defender. Thibodeaux should be a Day 1 starter and instant-impact player, wherever he lands.

Thibodeaux's grip on the top spot has loosened a bit lately, but that's because Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson has just been that good. After back-to-back monstrous performances against Ohio State and Iowa, the latter in the Big Ten championship, Hutchinson has joined rare company as a defensive Heisman finalist.

Unlike Thibodeaux, Hutchinson's season also isn't over with the No. 2 Wolverines in the College Football Playoff. His performance against No. 3 Georgia and beyond, as well as in the pre-draft process, could put him ahead of Thibodeaux, if he isn't already.

Beyond the two elite pass-rushers, the draft seems fairly open thanks to a lack of a slam-dunk quarterback prospect.

2022 NFL Draft order, team needs: Saints leap six spots with loss to Buffalo, Jets with two top-5 picks .
Houston moves back up two spots to No. 2 overallBut first, each week, Ryan Wilson, Chris Trapasso and I produce mock drafts for CBSSports.com. In Wilson's latest, he has the Texans, Falcons and Saints taking quarterbacks in the first round. Trapasso has Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett skyrocketing up the board. It was almost a consensus that Oregon edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux would be taken No. 1 overall by the Lions.
