  Boy, 6, Has No Plans to Return to School Where He Was Shot by California Gunman Alejandro Hernandez was shot twice when 43-year-old Kevin Neal unloaded about 100 rounds at Rancho Tehama Elementary School outside Sacramento on Nov. 14. Neal was killed by police, but not before fatally shooting four people and injuring two children, including Alejandro, who was transported by helicopter to Mercy Medical Center with gunshot wound to his right lung and foot.The bullet remains in his chest, but doctors consider Alejandro’s case to be a miracle.“They say that he was really lucky because if it would've been in this side, it would've hit his heart,” his mother, Angelica Monroy, told KCRC-TV.

WILTON MANORS, Fla. -- Students and faculty members at a South Florida school are mourning the loss of one of their peers who passed out and later died at a hospital. 

CBS Miami reports the 14-year-old boy collapsed Thursday morning during a gym class held at Somerset Village Academy in Wilton Manors. 

"It was on the track. He was running," said student Carilee Henritez. "It was my best friend's brother."  

Word traveled quickly that something had happened to a student on the athletic field.  

"He said someone called him and said some little kid died at the school," one student's mother, Katrina Madison, said. "It is devastating, my kids go here. It is devastating to me."

Paramedics transported the boy to a local hospital where he later died.

The young man's parents were notified, however, his identity is being withheld at this time. The coroner's office will determine his cause of death.  

In a written statement, school officials said they were "absolutely heartbroken." 

The incident remains under investigation by police.

The FBI says online comments made last year by a gunman who killed two students at a New Mexico high school had led them to conduct an investigation. Terry Wade, FBI special agent in charge in Albuquerque, told reporters Friday that the 21-year-old made generic comments in a gaming forum and the agency checked databases and interviewed him and his family in March 2016.Wade says the man didn’t have a gun at that time and told agents that he had no plans for an attack. He also didn’t have ties to any organizations.The FBI closed the investigation when it determined no crime was committed.
