  California wildfire turns San Francisco sky orange A wildfire burning out of control in rural Northern California sent a stream of smoke over 70 miles south into the San Francisco Bay Area on Sunday, transforming the sky into an eerie hazy mix of orange. The County Fire in Yolo and Lake Counties has burned at least 50 square miles northwest of San Francisco, and is only 2 percent contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. No injuries have been reported so far, but the blaze fueled by hot air and dry winds threatens more than 100 structures.

A man died after jumping from the top of a 130-foot waterfall , a tourist attraction in a Northern California state park. The 30-year-old man jumped from Burney Falls around 5:45 p.m. Friday, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Shasta County Sheriff's office says a man fell to his death jumping off Burney Falls Friday.

The unidentified 30-year-old didn't surface in the pool below the falls after his jump and a dive team recovered his body at the location in McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park near Shasta.

A call was made to 911 at 5:47 p.m. and the Burney Fire Department, California State Parks, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the sheriff's dive team and a California Highway Patrol helicopter responded.

The man was pronunced dead at the scene.

Draped in ferns, Burney Falls stands 129 feet tall and pumps 100 million gallons of  spring water every day. President Theodore Roosevelt allegedly called the falls the "Eighth Wonder of the World" and it was declared a National Natural Landmark in 1984.
