The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for the captain of a fishing vessel who went missing after apparently falling overboard while boating about 300 miles east of Cape Canaveral.

Crew members of the Day Boat Too fishing vessel alerted the Coast Guard to the 30-year-old man’s disappearance about 2:57 a.m. Sunday. It was not immediately known where the boat was based.

Crew members said the unnamed captain of the 46-foot fishing boat fell overboard during the journey.

The Coast Guard Air Station in Clearwater dispatched an HC-130 Hercules aircraft to search the area. A second Hercules aircrew from the Coast Guard’s Air Station Elizabeth arrived about 10:30 a.m. to relieve the first search team and continue the search of the surrounding area.
