2 killed in heavy storms in Switzerland, France Authorities say a tourist has drowned in Switzerland's Lake Geneva after her boat capsized in a driving storm, and another was killed in nearby France after high winds brought down a tree on her campsite. The Swiss news site 20 Minuten reported Sunday the previous day's storm brought heavy rain, hail and wind gusts as high as 122 kph (75 mph). Police say a tourist couple's boat capsized in Lake Geneva around 5 p.m. Local media reported the man swam to another boat and fired off two flares, but by the time rescuers arrived they were unable to find the woman. Her body was recovered later by divers.

Crews recovered the body of a pilot and the plane they were in two days after the aircraft crashed into Lake Tulloch in Calaveras County, officials said.

The plane was found around noon Monday about 110 feet underwater, the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office said. By Tuesday afternoon, crews were able to recover the plane. The pilot’s body was found inside.

The pilot was identified as Trent Johnson by family friend Bill Zoslocki on Wednesday.

Never would we have imagined that the boys' beloved father would be taken from us 13 years after their grandfather -- my dad -- died in the same manner."

A witness told authorities that the plane hit the power lines about 11:45 a.m. Sunday and went into the lake nose-first near the Poker Flat area and sank, said the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office, one of several agencies that responded to the crash.

The pilot was the only person aboard the plane when it went down, the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office said.

For 24 hours, crews used an underwater remote-operated vehicle, sonar and dive teams to search for the yellow, single-engine plane’s wreckage, authorities said.

The plane was found Monday. Due to the plane’s depth, officials requested additional resources to recover it from the lake.

No other details were released.
