WASHINGTON – The late Associate Justice John Paul Stevens will lie in repose at the Supreme Court next Monday, a day before his funeral and burial at Arlington National Cemetery.

Stevens, who served nearly 35 years on the high court until his retirement in 2010, died Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., after suffering a stroke. He was 99.

The last such honor was bestowed on Associate Justice Antonin Scalia, the leader of the court's conservative wing, who often clashed with the liberal Stevens during his 30 years on the court. Scalia died in 2016 while on a hunting trip in Texas.
