A federal judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit that alleged the Harvard Law Review discriminated against whites and men when selecting student editors and articles.

The judge's decision focused on the fact that the lawsuit was not able to identify anyone who was harmed by the policy, according to The Associated Press.

The two groups who brought the lawsuit say at least one of their members is a Harvard law student, but both of the groups failed to identify such an individual.

The lawsuit was brought by an anti-affirmative action group in Texas last year and a second group joined the lawsuit in January.

The lawsuit took issue with the "holistic review" Harvard Law Review used to pick 18 of the journal's 48 editors. The review was able to consider race and gender, among other factors, for its selections.

The lawsuit alleged the student-run journal once chose its editors and articles through merit alone but in recent years started giving weight to women, racial minorities and LGBT applicants.

A similar lawsuit against New York University is still pending.
