A Cessna 421 crashed around 4 p.m. and caught fire in a wooded area off State Road 44 and Grand Avenue, said Sheriffs Office spokesman Andrew Gant.

Authorities who responded to the scene discovered three unidentified people without a pulse, Gant said.

The crash remains under investigation. Gant said several witnesses in the area saw the plane go down.

Traffic is shut down on S.R. 44 between Grand Avenue and Old New York Avenue.

The Federal Aviation Adminstration and National Transportation Safety Board were notified of the deadly crash, according to Gant.

Volusia deputies search for 15-year-old missing with her baby .
Volusia County deputies are asking for help locating a 15-year-old who they said ran away with her 11-month-old daughter. Deputies said Diana Rodriguez ran away from her family’s home on Normandy Boulevard in Deltona on Sept. 30. She took her 11-month-old daughter Daniela with her, deputies said. It appeared she left through her bedroom window, deputies said. Her family said they believe she ran away because her cellphone was recently taken away.Since she went missing, deputies have been working along with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to locate Rodriguez and Daniela and ensure their safety and well-being.
