Tuesday, Stamford police announced that they arrested 18-year-old Jerry Diaz for the Aug. 26 crash. According to police, Diaz crashed his 2008 Nissan Altima in the area of Canal and Ludlow Streets just after 2:30 a.m. The crash led to the breaking of two utility poles and fallen wires, some of which ended up on the vehicle.Stamford residents NiShawn Tolliver, 18, and 19-year-old Kymani Pollack were killed.Other occupants also suffered serious and life-threatening injuries, but survived.

At least six people were injured after dozens of cars crashed on an icy highway near Spokane, Washington.

The pileup involving more than 60 vehicles forced authorities to shut down Interstate 90 on Tuesday, the Washington Department of Transportation said.

"There were multiple collisions west of Spokane due to an isolated snow storm that came through the area," Beth Bousley, a WDOT spokeswoman said.

The six wounded had injuries that were not life-threatening, said Orlando Sandoval, deputy fire chief of operations for the Spokane County Fire District 10.

All lanes of I-90 were blocked in both directions for several hours, then one lane in each direction reopened, said Jeff Sevigney, a trooper with the Washington State Patrol District 4.

The crash was so massive that at one point, workers ran out of tow trucks to remove the vehicles, Sevigney said. He added that a bus from Spokane has been taking stranded motorists to a nearby warming center.

More than half an inch of snow fell within 25 minutes, causing very slick conditions Tuesday in parts of Spokane, the National Weather Service office in Spokane said.

A high wind warning remains in effect from 4 a.m. PT Wednesday to midnight Wednesday night for eastern Washington, the weather service said.

OLATHE, Kan. — Injuries are reported after a driver fleeing police Friday afternoon caused a four car pile-up near 135th and Pflumm. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 42-year-old KCK woman was fleeing police around 2 p.m. on eastbound 135th Street when she allegedly ran a red light on Black Bob Road, causing her Chevy Suburban to crash into another vehicle. She then continued driving and rear-ended another vehicle, causing a four-car pile up. The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Two other people involved in the crash suffered minor injuries. Several other people were not injured.
