  Suspect in custody after large police response at Waukesha South HS Waukesha South High School is currently locked down after a large police presence. Multiple police cars and ambulances are at the school on East Roberta Avenue. Waukesha police are calling the response a "critical incident." "The building is safe and secure," police tweeted. "The suspect is in custody." Officers said it was an "isolated incident" and they were not seeking any other suspects. "We are in the investigative stage right now as the scene is stabilized," police tweeted.News Chopper 12's Matt Salemme said he saw at least 17 police vehicles at the scene.Students have not been evacuated from the school.

Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack spoke with the media and indicated around 10:15 a.m., a student at the school reported that another student brought a handgun to school — and was in possession of it. A Student Resource Officer (SRO) immediately responded to the classroom where the suspect student was located.Officials say the SRO made efforts to secure the classroom by getting the other students to safety. Other Waukesha officers also responded to the school.

The incident happened at about 10:30 a.m., according to a district official. Students will be let out of building at 11:15 a.m.

The school went on lockdown after that. Whittier Elementary School is also on lockdown, CBS 58 reports.

According to the Waukesha Freeman, a male was put into an ambulance on a stretcher.

Emergency radio traffic indicated a command post is being set up inside the school.

Police squad cars are blocking all the entrances at the high school and other streets around the school are shut down.

Parents are gathering outside the school, at Roberta and Tenny avenues.

An unnamed manager at the neighboring Pick 'n Save said police told him the situation is under control, but he was not authorized to say anything more.

Teen charged with attempted murder in Oshkosh school attack .
A 16-year-old Wisconsin boy was charged Wednesday with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a school resource officer with a barbecue fork. Grant Fuhrman was charged as an adult with attempted first-degree intentional homicide in last week's attack on Oshkosh West High School Resource Officer Mike Wissink. Wissink shot and wounded Fuhrman during the attack, which happened in Wissink's office. According to the complaint, Fuhrman told a friend in late September or early October to bet him that Fuhrman would not go to Wissink's office and stab him with a pencil, take Wissink's gun out of his holster and either shoot himself or the officer.
