Officials said a student armed with a weapon confronted a school resource officer and both were injured and taken to local hospitals.

The state Department of Criminal Investigation is taking over the investigation, officials said.

Officials said the school is locked down and parents can reunite with their kids at Perry Tipler Middle School.
