Raj Singh was called to take the woman from her home at the Sun City retirement community to the bank.

“While en route, he started talking with the woman who informed Raj that she owed the IRS $25,000 and she was headed to the bank to get the money and send it off to settle her debt,” Roseville police said in a Facebook post.

A Quincy cab driver is being called a hero Friday for stepping up to stop a scam aimed at an elderly woman . To commend Richard’s actions, Massachusetts credit unions donated , 000 to the Kennedy Senior Center for educational efforts to combat elderly exploitation.

Singh told the woman that sounded suspicious and it could be a scam. When the woman didn’t believe him, Singh “pleaded with the woman to reconsider,” and agreed to stop at a Roseville police station to talk to an officer.

At the police station, Singh spoke to an officer about the situation. The officer then spoke to the woman waiting in the cab and told her it was a scam.

“We love this story because several times throughout, Raj could have just taken his customer to her stop and not worried about her well-being,” police said. “He took time from his day and had the great forethought to bring the almost-victim to the police station for an official response.

Police said Singh saved the woman thousands of dollars. In partnership with Roseville CrimeStoppers, Singh was given a $50 gift card as a thank you.

A Georgia truck driver is facing multiple charges after authorities say he was driving his semi-truck while intoxicated. Troopers in Indiana pulled over James Robert Whitlock on Interstate 65 on Friday after 911 callers reported his erratic driving to authorities.As the trooper interviewed Whitlock, he said he observed suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain sight within the cab of the truck. The trooper said he tried to wake a woman co-driver in the sleeper portion of the semi but she was unresponsive.
