United States Attorney William M. McSwain said Thursday that Fred Arena, 41, of Salem, New Jersey, was sentenced to 6 months in prison and 2 years of supervised release for making false statements to government agents.

Arena, who was an employee of a federal contractor at the Philadelphia Navy Yard and as such was required to obtain a federal security clearance, lied to obtain the clearance.

Judge delays former Trump aide Michael Flynn's sentencing — yet again

Judge delays former Trump aide Michael Flynn's sentencing — yet again U.S. prosecutors had filed a request in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., on Sunday asking the judge for more time in response to Flynn's efforts to withdraw his guilty plea. Also Sunday, prosecutors asked Sullivan to confirm that Flynn's claim — that his prior defense team gave him "ineffective" representation — meant that he has waived his right to attorney-client privilege with those lawyers. That request, if approved, could open the door for prosecutors to ask Flynn's former attorneys for testimony about their work for him."The Court hereby SUSPENDS the current briefing schedule concerning Mr.

Walters, 37, was sentenced Friday to five months in jail on charges she stole almost 0,000 from the federal government. In various documents filed with the military, Walters asked to transition her Navy Basic Allowance for Housing from her mother's address in Norfolk to her husband's address in Brooklyn.

The recent arrest of Coast Guard Lt. Christopher Hasson, a former Marine who investigators say was a longtime white nationalist, has lawmakers worried that military leaders may not be adequately tracking white supremacy issues within the ranks. Hasson was arrested on Feb.

He also lied to federal investigators who asked him about his answers to questions on the security clearance paperwork.

Arena was arrested and detained in October 2019, and pleaded guilty to the charges in December 2019.

On January 10, 2019, Arena completed the standard Form SF-86 to get a federal security clearance for his job.

On that form, he was required to disclose whether he had ever been a member of an organization that used (or advocated the use of) force or violence to prevent others from exercising their constitutional rights.

Arena lied, saying that he had not been in such a group.

Authorities said Arena was an avowed member a white supremacist group that fits that description.

His membership in the group and his participation in their activities were demonstrated by his many admissions and photos on social media, including events surrounding the 2017 ‘Unite the Right’ rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. On the same application, Arena was asked whether he had had property repossessed within the past seven years. He falsely answered that he had not. In fact, Arena had previously defaulted on a car loan, and his car was repossessed within the seven year window.

As part of his sentence, the court ordered that during the period of supervised release, Arena is barred from membership and participation in any organization that advocates or practices unlawful acts of force or violence to discourage others from exercising their rights under the United States Constitution or any state of the United States.
