  2 dead, 10 injured in multiple St. Louis shootings ST. LOUIS (AP) — Two men died and 10 other people were injured in multiple shootings Sunday in St. Louis. One man was shot several times inside his car in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood and later died at a hospital, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Another man was killed in separate shooting downtown that also left a man in critical condition. Police did not provide additional details on that shooting. Some of the other Sunday shootings include a man shot in the head who was in stable condition and four people who sought hospital treatment after yet another shooting.

Dorn joined the St. Louis Police Department in 1969, rising in the ranks to captain before retiring in 2007, according to the Post-Dispatch. After retiring, he became police chief in Moline Acres, a small nearby city.

“My prayers are for the family and friends of retired Captain David Dorn,” St. Louis Public Safety Director Jimmie Edwards said in a news conference.

The Ethical Society of Police, which represents black officers in the city, said in a tweet, “He was the type of brother that would’ve given his life to save them if he had to.”

“Violence is not the answer, whether it’s a citizen or officer,” the Ethical Society of Police added in the tweet.

Four active cops were struck by gunfire in St. Louis overnight, according to authorities. Looting, which swelled after peaceful protests earlier in the day, continued until about 5 a.m., officials said.
