The bronze reduction of the equestrian statue of Louis XIV, produced by Antoine Coysevox for the Parliament Square in Brittany, could join the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts in Rennes.

This is an exceptional piece, a "work of major heritage interest ". The patronage appeal notice was published in the Official Journal by the Ministry of Culture on Sunday July 19, 2020. The idea: to acquire the bronze reduction of the equestrian statue of Louis XIV, made by Antoine Coysevox for the place du Parliament of Brittany between 1688 and 1689, at the request of the States of Brittany, initially intended for Nantes, and finally installed in Rennes in 1726.

Remarkable for the quality of its carving, its beautiful state of preservation, it is also to this day the only testimony in volume of the famous statue of Coysevox, the most important French sculptor of the end of the reign of Louis XIV.
