  Trump sounds open to Korea dialogue, says Kim feels pressure President Donald Trump sounded open Tuesday to the possibility of an inter-Korean dialogue after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made a rare overture toward South Korea in a New Year's address. But Trump's ambassador to the United Nations insisted talks would not be meaningful unless the North was getting rid of its nuclear weapons.In a morning tweet, Trump said the U.S.-led campaign of sanctions and other pressure were beginning to have a "big impact" on North Korea. He referred to the recent, dramatic escape of at least two North Korean soldiers across the heavily militarized border into South Korea.

After sending its air force on an air raid drill near its border with North Korea , Russia is now gearing up its paratroopers—some of the most elite forces in its military’s ranks—for a mass exercise of their own, in the far-east region as well.

North Korea's nuclear test launches have heightened tensions with its allies South Korea and Japan, as well as the United States. Pyongyang's war of words with President Donald Trump has concerned Russia and China, the secretive state's few international allies.

Russia ’s armed forces in the country’s far east have kicked off a large air drill near borders with China and North Korea that will culminate with a practice air bombing, state news agency Itar-Tass said Tuesday.

After a break over the winter holidays, Russian forces returned to training duty in three regions bordering northern China, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Friday.

More than 50 aircraft took part in the drills, firing unguided rockets, aircraft bombs and onboard cannons. 

Nikolai Patrushev, the Kremlin’s top security adviser, said last month that Moscow fears a war in North Korea could threaten Russia. 

Moscow has shown increased interest in displaying its military capabilities close to North Korea. Russia's Pacific Fleet spent four times longer at sea than planned for the year, with the Primorye region, located near the North Korean border, accounting for the single highest rate of deployment.

India tests-fires new ICBM .
India has successfully test-fired a long-range intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the country's Defense Ministry said Thursday. The nuclear-capable Agni-V is believe to be India's most advanced ICBM. It was fired Thursday morning India time from Abdul Kalam island off the coast of the eastern state of Odisha, the ministry said in a tweet. It called the test a "major boost" to the country's defense capabilities.
