The army says the body of Haydé Alvarado Castillo was found Sunday. According to photos, she was found in a deep gully on the flanks of the 17,160-foot (5,230 meter) volcano.

Alvarado Castillo was student at Mexico's National Autonomous University who had been missing since April 30.

According to her Facebook page, Alvarado Castillo was familiar with Iztaccihuatl, located just east of Mexico City.

Unlike the neighboring Popocatepetl volcano, Iztaccihuatl no longer erupts and is considered safe to climb.
